Burts Wave Cut Potato Chips Jalapeño & Red Pepper Flavour (@BurtsChips) [By @SpectreUK]

These crinkle (wave) cut crisps from Burts, in Devon, were Jalapeño & Red Pepper flavour, which gave me hope of hot spicy tasting crisps that would make my mouth tingle and my nose sweat a little. Sometimes I just have to be a little masochistic with my snacks. It just keeps things interesting, keeps the old ticker ticking inside when with each bite I think to myself; “Why? Why do I do this to myself?” It’s a little like the feeling when I’m slowly trundling up the slope on the roller coaster called Oblivion in Alton Towers. I think exactly the same thing, and yet, I still go every year and get a couple of Fast Track tickets just so I don’t have to queue for long. Both times that I go on Oblivion the tingly feeling of fear never leaves me and I may even sneak on it again at the end of the day just one more time to scream myself hoarse! I don’t know about you, but these little challenges in life help to keep things interesting, and so after my digression, I just had to taste these new Jalapeño & Red Pepper flavoured crisps from Burts. I noticed on the back of the packet that the ingredients of these crisps were free from artificial colours, flavourings and hydrogenated fat. There were 514 calories per 100g, with 28.8g of fat and 2.1g of sugar. I popped open the 40g bag and took a good whiff of the fire red coloured crisps inside. There was certainly a good spicy smell from them. I noticed that the crisps had little flecks of red and green on them, which I figured was the jalapeño and red peppers. There was an initial paprika flavour to these crisps followed quickly by a tasty red pepper chilli burn, with a hint of sweetness and a jalapeño tang. After eating more of these flavoursome crunchy crisps I indeed found my nose running a little and my mouth was a tingling zone of flames. These crisps even caught me a little at the back of my throat and made me want to search for water. Excellent: mission complete. Thank you, Burt. Keep up the good work! :-)
