Foodies News Burst 5/2/14

So first up - lets talk ice cream. I’m not joking, I’m aware that the weather isn’t at its best, but there are still developments in the ice cream cabinets! First up Owen very kindly let me know that he had spotted that Cadbury ice creams now available in individual pots, including Creme Egg flavour! Thank’s for the piccie Owen, he found them in Tesco. :-)

I also heard via twitter that IRN-BRU are bringing out ice lollies!! I do hope they aren’t a Scottish exclusive, as I really do have to hunt them down! The Telegraph also covered the story too: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinknews/10610798/IRN-BRU-ice-cream-perfect-for-a-January-day.html

It was only last week that I was bringing news that Walkers were running a flavour competition and there is another news story about them this week. They are stepping into the popped snacks market, and are launching their own popped crisps, (which aren’t fried but are cooked in a pressure cooker). I have to admit to being a little bit off the ball with this one, but Aero too had a flavour competition and let the public vote for their new bar. Somehow the great British public picked “white chocolate” as their exciting new flavour. I have to confess to being disappointed in you in all. Lemon, Strawberry and Cappuccino were all in the running but you let them slip you by… I’d have been repeatedly voting for Cappuccino if I’d only known! Nli10 said he’d have been voting Lemon, so perhaps it just dilutes those of us that want an interesting flavour and the plainest one wins? Now one for those of you with Nespresso machines, Carte Noir are launching compatible pods. They are hoping to make them widely available, which means picking up you pods might become a lot easier than tracking them down in exclusive shops or online. Just hope the quality is there too. If you are more of a tea drinker you might be interested to know that PG Tips are expanding their range and bringing out a new selection of teas, both herbal and fruit. A friend from work kindly found them already and even gave me a Spices and Mint tea bag, it had all the refreshing feel of peppermint tea, with a lovely tingly cinnamon warmth throughout. I can’t wait to find out what other flavours are coming out! Source: http://www.talkingretail.com/products-news/grocery/pg-tips-unveils-fruit-herbal-and-green-tea-range/

Big thanks to everyone who has contributed this week! Let me know if you spot any interesting foods or see any interesting news items and I’ll try and give them a mention next time! Email me at: admin@foodstufffinds.co.uk or tweet me @Cinabar

I can't wait to try those new Carte Noir Nespresso pods. Love the thought of cinnamon and mint so the PG Tips Aromatic looks like a must try for me!

Very disappointed at the White Chocolate winning for Aero, there's already a Polish version called Aero 2 in 1 that was available recently (it was milk chocolate with a white chocolate bubbly centre). I voted for Cappuccino several times! :(
