McVities Deli Choc - Dark (Ocado) [By @Cinabar]

I was doing my monthly online shop and looked at the ‘new items’ link at the top of the Ocado page, and added a bunch of interesting goodies. Well new goodies at any rate. ;-) Amongst those items were these biscuits, new from McVities. I have to admit they didn’t sound very extravagant, but new is new and I choose the dark chocolate option. They are also available in white or milk chocolate, which will probably be a future purchase.
When they arrived I stuck the kettle on and opened the box. I was impressed by just how much chocolate there was, it was remarkably thick almost more chocolate than biscuit. This made it dangerous for dunking in a hot drink, as the biscuit is thin and the chocolate melts quickly, you have to watch for breakages.
If they weren’t dunked the biscuits had a lovely snap. The underlying biscuit was creamy and sweet and had a good baked taste. The chocolate was rich and dark, but still sweet and pleasing to eat, it melted silkily in the mouth. The quality was good and these were a very tasty treat, they are really good biscuits. They still fit in to the category of “safe” new biscuits, as they aren’t adventurous and they don’t have a clever new flavour combination, but combined with a nice cup of coffee they do still go down rather well.

I got some of these from ASDA a couple of weeks ago, thought they were very boring and a way of trying to copy Bahlsen Choco Leibniz.
