May I start by saying that the new flavour of Kit Kat in the UK isn’t caramel or toffee based. Exciting news indeed as those are the flavours which seem to be so common now in the UK I am starting to dislike them purely due to overexposure.
However it still isn’t as risky a new flavour as it could have been, I’ve definitely had a Mint Kit Kat before, but I’ll still buy into a new Dark Mint version in the multipacks.
One of the things I love about the multipack Kit Kats is that the bars are wrapped in paper and foil, old school style. I like this retro element to the bars. Underneath the wrapper was a very dark looking Kit Kat, with a mild mint aroma.
I broke a stick off and bit in. The dark chocolate was good and strong and the extra cocoa in the flavour was very pleasing. All the usual crunch from the wafers was there, with the mix of texture that Kit Kat is famed for. The minty flavour was nicely balanced sweet and refreshing, with lovely tones of peppermint. Dark chocolate and mint is an excellent formula and works very well in Kit Kat form. The refreshing flavour from the mint actually makes this a nice summer bar variety. It's certainly one I’ll be picking up again to have with my afternoon coffee.
