I picked up this bag of Forest Feast Dark Chocolate Cherries at our local petrol station. We always buy snacks when we fill up the car, it’s a bit of a tradition. It makes the chore feel a little more rewarding, even if it’s an expensive one. Alongside these, I also grabbed some rainbow candy floss, which has no illusions of being healthy, but that review is for another day.
Once home, I opened the bag for an afternoon snack. The chocolates were large, shiny, and visibly very dark. I gave one a try, and it was delicious, almost too delicious. This only made me more suspicious of their supposed health benefits. The cherry inside had a great texture: firm but soft, like a light gummy sweet. It had a sweet yet sharp cherry flavour, which paired beautifully with the rich, 70% dark chocolate coating. The combination reminded me of a Black Forest gâteau.
Now, the real question, does this count as one of my five a day?
