Eridanous Greek Petit Four with cocoa & apricot [@NLi10]

What comes after Spanish week in Lidl? Greek week!

As we already had most of the stuff we needed I decided to just get these Greek (style) Petit Four biscuits.

Their best before says they will last to Jan - but I think they will be lucky to get through the day.

While they aren't quite fresh in the restaurant quality they do look and smell really really good.

They are diddy little things, barely a morsal, have to have a couple.

Good amount of crumbliness, and a nice balance of jam to the cocoa covering.  A hit - I just hope there are some left for when the guests arrive.

Eridanous - Greek Style Bougasta - bake at home Nutella pastry (@NLi10)

Well - we've finally eptied the last of this Greek inspired range from the freezer that we got from Lidl! We've had Gyros  at home and before that, well we had Gyros on pizza at home so maybe I didn't get that adventurous with it all - until now!

Now we have that Greek delicacy of - Nutella turnover.

Admittedly this is an odd one - I bought it on the off-chance that we would have visitors.  It's really an eat all at once deal - and it's really a 4+ portion thing.  That said - I got desperate so we shared it one evening...

And that's all it is - some pastry, folded over and filled with a couple of grades of hazelnut spread.  I could probably manage this with box of the Jus Rol stuff.  You do get a tray to cook it in - and the JusRol stuff always has the same flavour.

And *poof* it's half way cooked - looks a little crispy, we now have to flip it.

Fairly close to the box art - I stand corrected - maybe there is more going on here than I suspected.

A little squashed really - I think our oven doesn't get hot enough!  And it was lovely.  Eating half of it to myself (OK - just over half) was a huge mistake - I essentially had a week's sugar in one meal.  Shared between 4-6 of you with ice-cream this would be an amazing at-home treat.

Hopefully Lidl have some similar deals and ranges next year - I've loved what I've tried this time.

ERIDANOUS - Greek Style Gyros at home (@NLi10)

Lidl by work have all kinds of odd theme weeks, and earlier in the year they did some awesome Greek stuff.  I bought this to fry up for home lunches - and promptly forgot about it.  It floated to the bottom of the freezer where it's  been for say 4 months.

It's essentially one of their bachelor chow things - a meal in a bag.  Add some water and heat and you have a mix of meat, veg and carbs. But do you have any flavour or authenticity.

Hmmm - frozen Greek bits in water doesn't look great.

When the rice sucks all that moisture up though it turns into a nice small dinner.  There are olives in here, decent quality pork, recognisable veggies with crunch, and of course the flavoured rice.

And it's a hit.  It really takes less than 10 mins from freezer to plate (oddly the microwave recipe is slower) and it has kept pretty well unopened.  I don't expect the other 2/3 of the bag to make it so long - a quick tasty lunch is always a pleasure.

Not authentic to Greek restaurant quality, but good enough for a TV meal.
