Here we have Nescafé Caramel Coffee. I opened up the jar, and it had a nice aroma. I added a heaped teaspoon to a large mug, added the hot water, and added a drop of milk. I think the next part is the problem; I didn’t add any sugar. As much as I like the occasional coffee with a sweetened flavour, I don’t add sugar to coffee normally, so much so that short of breaking into my baking supplies, I don’t really have any sugar in for hot drinks.
I gave the drink a sip and had the same result as I have with all these flavoured instants. There was a coffee kick, followed by a vague caramel taste that lacked depth. There was an almost bitter edge of caramel but no sweet, soothing blast. I assume if I added sugar to my drink, it would light up with a perfect caramel flavour. I presume the sugar is the missing element. I assume these instant-flavoured coffees are better with sugar; do you take sugar in them? Do they work for you? I’ll be finishing the rest of this jar, still not adding sugar, and being a bit disappointed by the lack of depth to the drink.
Yeah, I'm somewhat addicted to those Beanies coffees, and regularly grab the big boxes when they're cheap on Amazon. But without sugar, they're a bit tasteless. I should probably ease off those, but as an early morning pick-me-up. Eek .. Naughty me!
