Salted Caramel M&Ms (Pound Shop) By @Cinabar
Salted Caramel is a bit of a default flavour, it is safe and seems to be more or less universally loved. Therefore a lot of “new” varieties of products are salted caramel, it is a safe bet. M&Ms varieties are a bit basic in this country the interesting ones I try are all usually from a broad, so I won’t complain too much that the new (UK release) flavour is Salted Caramel because at least it is a new flavour which so rarely happens here. Even the “English Toffee” variety was America only, ironically.
These Salted Caramel M&Ms don’t appear to have a whole peanut in them but according to the ingredients do contain peanuts so do watch out if that causes you problems. The concept is a candy shell, chocolate and salted caramel centre. I tried one and was impressed with the texture and flavour. The Salted Caramel M&Ms start off firm and crunchy but the centre is more firm soft and sticky, like a proper caramel which I had expected but was pleased to see.
I like a mix of textures so these were perfect for me. The caramel flavour was lovely too there was a decent hit of salt and the tang of this with the brown sugar taste had that sweet savoury combination that is ever so moreish. I get it, I understand why everyone loves salted caramel and I too found these M&Ms lovely, I’d happily buy them again. I hope this is the start of more new flavours in the UK, even if I find it hard to believe we’d ever get our hands on anything as exciting as JalapeƱo.
These are nearly as good as the US caramel version.
ReplyDeleteMind you, they are just the old Toffee Treets!
