Seabrook Disney Winnie the Pooh Honey Flavour Lentil Puffs (Ocado) By @SpectreUK

To celebrate Disney Winnie the Pooh‘s 100th birthday, Seabrook have brought out these Honey Flavour Lentil Puffs. Written by A.A. Milne for his son Christopher Robin’s toys adventures, Winnie the Pooh has been popular with people of all ages ever since.

Seabrook’s origin story is also quite interesting. Mr Charles Brook phoned the shop to arrange pick up of his photos, whilst leaving the name Mr. C. Brook in 1939. When he went to pick them up, they had written down Seabrook, as his name. War happened, Charles was in the navy, and afterwards he decided to buy an old chip shop in Bradford, and call it Seabrook. He also made snack food with the fryer, and delivered it to the locals.

Anyway, on opening these Disney Winnie the Pooh Honey Flavour Lentil Puffs had a very sweet honey aroma. In fact they made me think of a sweet breakfast cereal. On taste though, there was an initial sweet honey flavour, followed by lentil.

For me, I’d say they needed a bit more salt to balance the sweetness and detract from the lentils. Eating two of these Disney Winnie the Pooh Honey Flavour Lentil Puffs at a time seems better, as the honey flavour lasts longer. I think they will go well with a cheese meal, so that’s what I’ll do with my next packet.

Seabrook Waffle Bites Chicken Shop (Home Bargains) By @Cinabar

I love chicken flavour crisps. They are my go to flavour of choice, so that is a bit of a disclaimer before I start this review, just so you know where I stand.

Here we have a new chicken crisp available, Seabrook Waffle Bites Chicken Shop. The “Chicken Shop” name makes me assume these are going for a fried chicken flavour, despite the crisps only coming in at 77kcal per bag.

I opened up the bag and found cute square shaped, thick, aerated potato snacks with a waffle pattern. The aroma was very herby. These felt more like a chicken dinner with stuffing than a chicken shop takeaway, despite KFC claiming to use 11 secret herbs and spices in their recipe.

I gave them a taste and the flavour was fab. I loved all the herbs and the meaty chicken taste. They are quite fragranced, with oregano seeming to be particularly prominent, which I really enjoyed.

The crunch is fun too. They are light, crunchy, and they melt away in the mouth. I love that texture. I thoroughly enjoyed these with my lunchtime sandwich, and I will definitely be back for more.

Seabrook Roast Chicken Crisps (Home Bargains) By @Cinabar

I spotted these in Home Bargains on a display stand, marked as a limited edition, and they went straight into my basket. Chicken crisps are easily my favourite flavour, and I have always had a soft spot for Seabrook, so this felt like a safe bet.

These are crinkle cut, which is always a win. The ridges really hold onto the seasoning, so you get a proper hit of flavour in every bite. The crisps look quite thick, but the texture is still satisfyingly light. That matters more than you would think. There is a trend of thicker, harder crisps being treated as premium, but for me, a lighter crunch is far more enjoyable.

Flavour wise, these absolutely deliver. It is a proper, full-on roast chicken taste. Rich, savoury and packed with that meaty depth you want. There is also a herby note running through them that leans into a stuffing-like flavour, which really sells the whole roast dinner idea.

I will admit I am biased when it comes to chicken crisps, but these are genuinely excellent. The only downside is right there on the packaging. Limited edition. Why? These deserve a permanent spot on the shelf.

Seabrook Limited Edition Tomato Ketchup Crisps (Morrisons) By @cinabar

There’s always a little thrill when Seabrook release a new flavour, especially when it’s a limited edition. This time, it’s Tomato Ketchup, a bold, nostalgic choice that’s bound to divide opinion, but definitely worth grabbing while you can.

First off, the texture hits all the right notes. These crisps are satisfyingly crunchy, with that signature Seabrook crinkle cut that not only boosts the bite but also catches every bit of seasoning in the ridges. It’s a smart design that delivers a more intense flavour with every mouthful.

Taste-wise, they’re a delight. The tomato is sweet and rich, instantly recognisable, but there’s more going on under the surface. A subtle warmth lifts the flavour, thanks to the paprika and pimento tucked into the seasoning mix. It’s mild, but it adds a depth that makes them more than just your average ketchup crisp.

The only thing missing? That sharp vinegar tang you’d expect from a classic ketchup flavour. It’s not a dealbreaker, though. These crisps are still packed with tomatoey goodness, and the slight spice more than makes up for it.

If you’re a fan of sweet and savoury with a hint of warmth, these are well worth hunting down before they vanish from the shelves.

Seabrook Authentic Fish and Chips Crisps (Morrisons) By @Cinabar

These are the other new flavour that has been brought out by Seabrook to celebrate Bradford becoming City of Culture 2025. The first ones we tried were Seabrook Authentic Chicken Curry Crisps, which had a lovely spicy kick. Here we have another favourite takeaway flavour, Seabrook Authentic Fish and Chips Crisps.

I do not think there are enough fish-flavoured crisps. I am not including prawn cocktail, as that is more about the sauce than the prawns, but I do like Scampi Fries when I can find them.

I opened the bag and found some pale-looking crisps inside. They had the advantage of having nice crinkles to collect plenty of seasoning. The aroma was mostly salty. I gave one a try and found it to be rather nice. I could pick up on a gentle batter taste, then some salt and a little fish. The flavour was there, but it was a little mild. They are delicate, but I still really enjoyed the taste and thought they did a good job of recreating that fish and chips feel. The curry crisps they released were very full-on and not shy on flavour at all. It is a shame they did not turn the volume up on these ones, as that would have made them perfect.

Seabrook Authentic Chicken Curry Crisps (Morrisons) By @Cinabar

When Seabrook announces a new flavour of their crisps in sharing bags, I always get excited. The latest range celebrates Bradford becoming City of Culture 2025. They have chosen flavours from the area and turned them into new crisps. From the branding on the bag, these appear to be exclusive to Morrisons.

First up is Authentic Chicken Curry. At first glance, I thought the flavour sounded a bit generic. Why not take a specific type of curry and go all in with that? Why has no one made Rogan Josh crisps yet? I love a good curry, so I was still keen to give these a try.

We opened the bag and poured them into a sharing bowl. I was impressed by the complex and aromatic smell. These crisps are thick cut and crinkle cut, giving plenty of room for all the seasoning. I took a bite and loved the snappy crunch. The flavours of chicken and spice were really strong, with paprika, onion and ginger shining through. There was plenty of chilli, and the crisps had a proper kick, which was wonderful. Some crisps claim to be spicy but then play it safe with just a little bit of heat. These were bold, making sure my mouth was tingling with spices.

They were seriously moreish. The more you ate, the more you wanted. If you stopped for too long, the chilli seemed to turn up the heat even more.

Wow, Bradford, if these Seabrook Authentic Chicken Curry Crisps are anything to go by, I will make sure to pop by one of your curry houses.

Seabrook Fries Salt & Vinegar (Morrison’s) By @SpectreUK

I lost my tastebuds to COVID for more than a couple of weeks just before one of the lockdowns a few years back. It was strange because I'd eaten Smith's Chipsticks Salt N' Vinegar with my lunch that day and all I could taste for two weeks or more, whatever it was, tasted of Smith's Chipsticks Salt N' Vinegar. All except strawberries, which tasted super acidic. It was joyous when my tastebuds finally came back fully. It took a while longer though. I do still eat strawberries, but I went off Smith's Chipsticks Salt N' Vinegar.

Seabrook must be branching out. They have tried to match Smith's variety with their own Seabrook Fries Salt & Vinegar. I may have a slight snuffle from the guy on the stall next to me at my last comic con. I'm hoping it's just the drop in temperature and the damp weather outside today, and nothing more.

So after boiling my usual three eggs, adding strawberry jam and honey to my toast, I opened a packet of these Seabrook Fries Salt & Vinegar. There was a salty and slightly vinegar smell from the thin maize fries inside the packet. On first taste these crisps were not as crunchy or flakey as their counterparts, they were melt in the mouth and slightly more salty, and then with vinegar into the aftertaste. As an alternative I definitely liked these Fries and would have them again.

Seabrook Loaded Puffs Nacho Cheese Flavour (Ocado) By @Cinabar

Following on from the Seabrook Loaded Rings Zingy Prawn Cocktail Flavour Crisps that Spectre wrote about, I am trying the other new flavour we bought. Here we have Seabrook Loaded Puffs Nacho Cheese Flavour. They are made with maize, baked, and presented as a large cheese puff. This makes them a lower-calorie snack. I poured some out onto my lunch plate and gave one a try.

As these Loaded Puffs are quite big, I absolutely loved the texture, they are so crispy when you bite them and then sort of melt. I found that really moreish and wish there had been more in the bag! Each bit was crunchy, then soft, which was kind of fun to eat. The flavour is good too, the nacho cheese taste is quite strong and full of flavour. They do have that Nacho cheese taste, and it works well on this type of snack. Again, they hit the spot perfectly. We were looking for some lower-calorie crisps or snacks to have at lunch times, and these were just what we were after. I would definitely buy them again.

Seabrook Loaded Rings Zingy Prawn Cocktail Flavour (Ocado) By @SpectreUK

It's no secret that I love crisps of mostly every kind and flavour. In fact, off the top of my head I really can't think of a brand or flavour that I don't like. I like high calorie big bags of crisps, but I also like low calorie crisps, such as these Seabrook Loaded Rings Zingy Prawn Cocktail Flavour. They should go well with my tuna sandwich after weightlifting this morning, but also should allow me to munch down on a big packet of biscuits for pudding after dinner later.

 

On opening the packet, these maize Seabrook Loaded Rings Zingy Prawn Cocktail Flavour were quite pungent smelling of prawn cocktail. The aroma was definitely eyebrow raising to say the least. On taste these Loaded Rings certainly had a zing to them, and a strong flavour of prawn cocktail from first bite. Crunchy and moreish, I couldn't help but keep eating them. They were very tasty indeed, and they went perfectly with my spicy tuna sandwich.

Seabrook Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce Crisps (Asda) By @Cinabar

These crisps don’t have a “new” label on them but I can’t remember seeing them before, well at least not recently. I don’t recognise the bag either with its bright orange and bottle design on the pack. I think Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce is a magical sauce that makes things like cheese on toast taste next level. Truth is I go heavy on this sauce when I use it and I love its tangy salty umami flavour.

I opened up this bag and we shared them at lunch time with a sandwich. The crisps had a good aroma and the crinkle in them looked like it was holding a fair amount of seasoning which looked promising. For me the flavour of these Seabrook Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce Crisps though was mild, it was nice it tasted just like the sauce but it felt like someone had given it a gentle splash and I would have knocked their hand and made it a fair bit stronger.

I liked the crisps but I didn’t love them. They had all the right ingredients just not quite in the proportions I’d hopped for. This might just be down to personal taste but if I’m adding Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce I go heavy.

Seabrook Loaded Fries Cheese & Bacon (Morrisons) By @SpectreUK

I guess as a crisp or snack manufacturer you have to be pretty brave to take on the long standing bacon flavoured crisps and fries that have been on the market since I can remember, especially if they are also low in calories for health nuts who count every one. Possibly the only way to stay competitive could be to add something extra to the ingredients, such as cheese…?

I don't eat much cheese. I do love it, but asides a cheese and cold meats meal with a glass of port every other Sunday, it's not so good for my waistline. Cheese and bacon was a favourite sandwich of mine when I was a bit heavier, and I wasn't so dependent on keeping my weight down to enable me to walk on my sore knee. I reckon these Seabrook Loaded Fries Cheese & Bacon flavour will go down rather well. They're made with maize, and are low in calories, so they sound pretty healthy.

I recently tried Seabrook Loaded Fries Chilli Heat flavour, which I really enjoyed. However tasty they were I didn't believe they had much of a chilli burn at the time. I did like their tomato flavour though and finished the multipack off in no time. So I'm understandably looking forward to these Seabrook Loaded Fries Cheese & Bacon flavour. I'm not expecting anything from them like a chilli burn, though funnily enough I am expecting cheese and bacon!

On opening the packet there was a good strong cheesy smell followed by a smoky bacon aroma. On taste these Seabrook Loaded Fries Cheese & Bacon flavour have a good strong flavour of cheese to begin with, followed closely behind by a smoky slightly salty bacon flavour. I found these cheese and bacon fries exceptionally moreish. The packet emptied very quickly indeed. They were very flavoursome, they also felt healthy to eat, and they will become a firm regular in our crisp cupboard. Yes… we have a cupboard for crisps!

Seabrook Loaded Fries Chilli Heat (Morrisons) By @SpectreUK

It's always nice to see alternative brands of crisps with new alternatives in flavours and crisp styles. I haven't seen maize crisps made by Seabrook before. I do enjoy their crinkle cut crisps when I find them. These Seabrook Loaded Fries are Chilli Heat flavour. There is also a Cheese and Bacon flavour to write about on a later date.

To me the term 'Loaded Fries' should mean loaded with flavour. These 'Chilli Heat' in their chilli pepper red coloured packet should be pretty hot I reckon. I'm hoping they're not so hot that I can't taste the chilli flavour, but it's rare that I've found a snack that does that. Nose sweating chilli burn I can cope with and usually like, but it's that super hot chilli sauce loaded full of mega hot chillis, which seems to burn right through my palate before I can taste the chillis that I don't like. I do have a few favourite hot sauces that I regularly have in the cupboard though, which I like with chicken and chips, and also for dipping sliced potatoes.

On opening the packet there was a tomato and chilli aroma from the red coloured slimline maize chips inside. On first tentative taste these Seabrook Loaded Fries Chilli Heat are predominantly tomato in flavour, with a medium to mild chilli heat from the Red Bell Chillis in the ingredients. These chips are very tasty indeed, but mainly of tomatoes with mild burn at the back of the flavour, and a little garlic in the aftertaste.

If Seabrook had called them Tomato and Chilli flavour, I'd have been much more understanding, but Chilli Heat is a bit of an over exaggeration. Having said that, I do really like them a lot, as I do love tomato flavoured crisps and alternative snacks, and will definitely buy them again.

Seabrook Scorchin' Hot Trinidad Scorpion Chilli Crisps (Aldi) By @SpectreUK

Cinabar is trying to kill me again. We've already tried a very hot flavour of crisps from Seabrook Fire Eaters Smokin’ Hot Smokehouse Cayenne the other day, which had our mouths tingling and noses sweating. So no-one would touch these Seabrook Trinidad Scorpion Chilli flavour crisps, except muggins of course. They have a five chilli heat warning on them! I do like spicy chilli crisps and some hot sauces. I prefer hot sauces which I can taste rather than ones that are just trying to hurt me. The amount of warnings on the front of this packet make me slightly anxious. Though I have had plenty of warnings on other crisp packets before and been disappointed that they haven't had the chilli heat they warned of. Have I already stated there is a five chilli warning on this packet? I do remember the chilli heat from Seabrook Fire Eaters Smokin’ Hot Smokehouse Cayenne, but they were very tasty, lets hope these Trinidad Scorpion Chilli flavour crisps are tasty or they might find themselves in the bin, like the odd ridiculously hot sauce I've had in the past.

On opening the packet these almost fire engine red crinkle cut crisps certainly smelt chilli hot, but also like they would be pretty tasty too. Wow… on trying the first bright red crisp there was a taste sensation of hot chilli, but the burn from the chilli straight afterwards was a little too painful for me. I was already sweating from just coming back from the gym after spending too long in the sauna. My nose started to run after the first few crisps. I had a multitude to go… I decided my only option here would be to have a massive crisp sandwich. I used to eat Kamikaze sandwiches laced with diced chilli grown in our greenhouse all the time. This would be a mega Kamikaze crisp sandwich!

… Actually it was a Kamikaze crisp bap, as we didn't have any sliced bread in. I do like a good bap anyway. In fact I do like a nice pair of baps…! Oh my, this one Kamikaze crisp bap was a hot one though. I had some crisps left over on the side which served to torture me as I sweated over my fiery hot Kamikaze Trinidad Scorpion Chilli flavour crisps bap. I went through quite a few tissues mopping my brow and nose by the end of it I can tell you. It certainly was tasty, but also still a little too painful, so these crisps are a little too hot for me, I'm afraid. If you fancy a go yourself, be warned, these Trinidad Scorpion Chilli flavour crisps really are super five chilli burning hot!

Seabrook Fiery Woodsmoke BBQ Crisps (Ocado) By @Cinabar

These are a new variety of crisps from Seabrook, in order to help celebrate the new ride at Alton Towers; The Wickerman which launched this year. The ride is a wooden roller coaster with flames (what could go wrong) so the crisps variety is themed as Fiery Woodsmoke BBQ flavour. The packet also features an image of the roller coaster on the front of the bag too.
The crisps are crinkle cut and have a heavy seasoning sprinkled on them. Crinkle cut are also good for strong flavours as the creases hold the seasoning. I gave one a try and found the favour to be quite unusual. There isn’t that much depth to the flavour, but what was there was still strong. There was a smokey barbecue flavour, focusing more on the smoke than anything more wholesome. Just as I was thinking that the crisps perhaps needed a little more sweetness or seasoning I realised my mouth was on fire. Okay it wasn’t quite that hot, but the chilli burn was strong and it seemingly snuck up on my taste buds. It was actually nice to find some crisps with a kick and a decent chilli buzz, I found them very enjoyable to munch on.
These are tasty crisps, and a nice tie in with Alton Tower’s new ride, somewhere I really should plan a trip too soon.

Seabrook Lamb & Mint Crisps (Morrison’s) By @spectreUK

Roast lamb and mint sauce constitute one of my favourite Sunday dinners, preceding the preferred Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding dinner of course. I'm hoping these Seabrook Lamb & Mint crinkle cut crisps will help to remind me during this mid-week lunchtime of a good hearty Sunday dinner. I may not have the roast potatoes, side vegetables and a glass of red wine at work, but at least these crisps may raise a smile rather than a pre-meal toast.
There's a definite minty smell on opening the packet with a little lamb and parsley in the background. In taste these crinkle cut crisps are certainly big on mint which merges into lamb and mint towards the aftertaste. Once the aftertaste has almost died out there is a bizarre aftershock of parsley and a little garlic in the flavour. This makes for an oddly pleasant secondary flavour.
These Seabrook Lamb & Mint Crisps are definitely minty in taste, with lamb following closely behind to be replaced by an entirely new blast of flavours of parsley and garlic. I can't recall having a crisp flavour that bites back after swallowing, so there you go… Always try something new, you never know when you'll have a new experience!

The 25g packet has 126 calories, with 7.2g of fat, 0.4g of sugar and 0.4g of salt. The ingredients are vegetarian friendly, gluten free, and include; potatoes, sunflower oil (30%), rice flour, sugar, yeast extract, salt, acidity regulator; sodium diacetate, onion powder, flavouring, dried herbs; parsley and mint, garlic powder, and herb extract.

Seabrook Chorizo Lattice Crisps (Asda) By @Cinabar

This the second bag of Seabrook crisps I have had in this style, the first being Chicken Jalfrezi Crisps. The crisps are specialty food flavours and are in a big share bag. The bag opens on the top and is resealable via a sticky pull tab. This is a nice idea for sharing, and the way the bag opens makes it easy to offer these around.
The crisps inside are lattice shaped and as such look quite smart, and have plenty of crevices to trap the seasoning. The flavour is Chorizo as you are reading this you have the benefit of not having to listen to me attempt to pronounce it! Whenever I try I inevitably get corrected.

As it is a spicy sausage variety I was surprised to see that these crisps state vegetarian friendly on the front of the pack. The ingredients are below, incase you want to check.
The crisps have a good texture and are light and crunchy. They taste surprisingly meaty to say they are a vegetarian edition. The main flavour is a rich smokey taste, there were loads of tones of spices too, all intermingling and creating a very pleasant warming smokey flavour. There was quite a bit of depth to the flavour, but they were still fairly mild. They were easy to eat, without there being too much heat in the taste, and we all enjoyed munching on them. If I could just learn how to pronounce the name they would be far easier to hand out! Chore-Rise-O? Shore-Its-So?

Chicken Jalfrezi Crisps - Seabrook (Asda) By @Cinabar

I spotted these in Asda and didn’t at first realise that they were made by Seabrook. The packaging is quite different to what I’d expect from the brand, and it seems they are part of a Food Heroes range where the flavours are inspired by people. This one is officially Akbar’s Chicken Jalfrezi, I don’t mind who inspired it, I just hoped they were good.

The new bag from Seabrook opens in quite an innovative way, where you unseal and open the middle. It is sticky too, so you can have a few and put them away until the next day. I liked this easy to share bag and I hope it catches on.

The crisps are in the lattice style, this makes them light to munch on, but that they pick up lots of seasoning in their nooks and crannies. The flavour tasted remarkably authentic. These are not just a generic curry flavour, they had wonderful full on spices, from the garam masala to the lovely hint of onion. The chilli kick was just right, it was very definitely present, but not overpowering off the other delicious flavours. I loved these crisps, they had a meatiness to them too, but the best part was the intricacies of the Jalfrezi flavour. It actually tasted like somebody had spent some serious time getting these just right.

Seabrooks –Bread Crisps Fireman Frank’s Sweet Chilli with Chilli and Mixed Peppers [By @SpectreUK]

I'm always looking for alternative snacks to crisps and these Seabrook’s Fireman Frank’s Sweet Chilli with Chilli and Mixed Peppers bread crisps sent by a friend for us to try seemed just the ticket. They were oven baked in Yorkshire and served in a 25g packet, which was 104 calories, with 2.8g sugar, and 2.6g of fat. These bread crisps were thin slices of baked bread with chilli and mixed peppers, and seasoned with sweet chilli flavouring. The ingredients included; wheat flour, rapeseed oil, tomato purée, sugar, ascorbic acid, yeast, dried red and green peppers, garlic purée, sea salt, chilli flakes, and coriander. On opening the packet there was a very spicy chilli and peppery smell to the red thin slices of baked bread (see photo). The bread crisps looked like small pieces of croutons and had a good crunch to them, but were not tooth-breakingly hard like some fried croutons. They had a light medium spice and were very tasty, with a full tomato flavour, and a bite of chilli and peppers with a hint of coriander. These bread crisps melted in my mouth after the initial crunch and were very moreish. They had a good medium spice that didn't make my nose run or make me want to call for Fireman Frank to put out a fire in my mouth and throat, but they were so very flavoursome. I would have these bread crisps again. They had a good lunch-box sized pack, were a very healthy feeling snack and an excellent alternative to crisps.

Canadian Ham flavoured Seabrook crisps (Sainsbury’s) [By @SpectreUK]

Seabrook Crisps are produced in Yorkshire, and the company was established in 1945. Seabrook Crisps produces flavours such as Beefy, Pickled Onion, Worcester Sauce, Smokey Bacon, Cheese and Onion, Wasabi and Mustard. These Canadian Ham flavoured crisps were packaged in a 30g bag of crisps, which equates to 159 calories. The crinkle cut crisps were cooked in sunflower oil. Sunflower oil is high in vitamin E and low in saturated fat, which produces less body fat and is generally better for you. The back of the crisps packet stated that these crisps were made with 90% less salt, and with just a smattering of sea salt. Other ingredients included “smoke flavourings”, so I was interested to discover how this Canadian Ham flavour would differ from regular Smokey Bacon flavour.
Another question was also bugging me; why Canadian Ham? Why is their ham different to any other country’s ham? I ate some Canadian salmon on Boxing Day that my parents had received from some friends in Canada. It came in a smart wooden box with a colourful fish design on the top. I thought the Salmon tasted quite dry, but I kept the box to put my bits and bobs in it. Not that this has anything to do with Canadian Ham or any other food from Canada, but I’m not sure I would recommend Seabrook producing Moose flavoured crisps either.
On opening the crisp bag there was a mild smoked ham smell. There was an initial, but not overpowering smokiness to the crisps followed by a mild salted ham taste, and an oily sweetness in the aftertaste. The mildness of these crisps sparred with my ham and mustard sandwiches and the tomato I had cut up in my pack lunch. I have to say I enjoyed these crisps, but their mild flavour lost the taste battle against the sandwiches. Maybe Ham and Pickle flavour or Ham and Mustard flavour could have been more preferable? I reckon Gammon and Pineapple crisp flavour could literally blow my mind! I do like my crisps with a bit of umph, especially at lunch time at work in an attempt to keep me awake for the afternoon. I’d enjoy these crisps again, but if pushed would go for Smokey Bacon flavour every time.

Seabrook: Hot & Spicy - Desi Curry Crisps (WH Smiths) [By @Cinabar]

It’s hard to eat these crisps and not end up comparing them to 2 Chilli crisps from Seabrook which came out at the same time. The 2 Chilli ones were absolutely amazing in flavour, and bordering on crisp perfection, so it was always going to be hard not to compare the two.
As per the 2 Chilli crisps, these were also labelled as a heat rating of three out of three chillies on the pack. They certainly have heat, but I felt they came in just a tad milder than the other variety. This doesn’t mean to say that they are mild though, as they have a lovely tang. They are crinkle cut, so the spices tend to gather nicely on each crisp.
They are very aromatic crisps, which incorporate a good range of flavours from curry powder through to onion and tomato. They contain a good hit of both salt and sugar, which works well with the spices, but there was the odd crisp that had a heavy focus on one or other of the tastes. So some of the crisps didn’t have a balanced mix of seasoning. Other than that the flavouring did a good job of representing a curry, and certainly reminded me of a Rogan Josh taste at the very least, with a sweet tomato background.
To be fair these are good crisps, and I would be totally raving about them if I didn’t have the prior knowledge that the 2 Chilli ones are superior. Desi Curry crisps, do deliver a nice curry taste with a decent amounts of warmth from the spices, and I would rate them as very good. The other new flavour 2 Chilli are just in a league of their own, and would categorically get my purchase if I had the choice.
