KitKat HoneyComb Flavour Buzz (B&M) By @cinabar

KitKat HoneyComb Flavour Buzz

This Kit Kat was found in a UK store, but it is an import from Australia. It’s always fun to try Kit Kats from around the world, and honeycomb is a flavour that’s hard to resist. At first glance I thought this might be a UK bar, as all the writing is in English, but the addresses on the back are Australian.

This is a large sharing bar, covered in the usual milk chocolate. The aroma had an extra sweetness to it, though the milk chocolate was still the main scent. I broke off a couple of strips and, once halved, they looked just like a regular Kit Kat inside.

KitKat HoneyComb Flavour Buzz

The taste, however, was noticeably different. As someone with a sweet tooth, I really enjoyed it. The honeycomb (or cinder toffee as I know it) added a lovely burst of burnt caramel sweetness to the familiar Kit Kat flavour. It was smooth and indulgent, if a little on the sweet side. The one thing missing was the texture. Honeycomb usually has a crunch, but here it was only the flavour that came through. Even so, it worked well and made for a tasty variation. It isn’t one of the wildest Kit Kat imports out there, but it’s still a good bar and a great pick for anyone who likes their chocolate on the sweeter side.

Nestle Kit Kat Salted Caramel (WHSmiths) By @SpectreUK

Nestle Kit Kat Salted Caramel

Nom nom nom. I have always loved Kit Kats for an afternoon break with a cup of tea or coffee. This new Nestle Kit Kat Salted Caramel bar has a marbled effect. On carefully unwrapping the bar for the photograph's sake, oh gosh, it smelt of caramel and milk chocolate goodness.

Nestle Kit Kat Salted Caramel

These Nestle Kit Kat Salted Caramel bars have a thick coating caramel flavoured milk chocolate, and are heavy on crème salted caramel inside, with a thin layer of oozy caramel and the usual crunchy wafers.

Nestle Kit Kat Salted Caramel

On taste there was the caramel milk chocolate coating to begin with, followed by the caramel crème, a thin layer of oozy caramel, with a saltiness as I crunched through the wafers. This Nestle Kit Kat Salted Caramel bar is to die for, pure luxury. Perfect for a self indulgent break anytime of the day.

Information on the wrapper; The 99g bar has apparent servings of 3 fingers (though I ate the whole bar) containing 172 calories, with 9.4g of fat, 16g of sugar, and 0.13g of salt.

Kit Kat Chunky Funky (WH Smiths) By @Cinabar

Kit Kat Chunky Funky

This is a very pretty Kit Kat. I’ve complained before that Kit Kats in the UK aren’t the most exciting, especially compared to the wild flavours in Japan, but we do still get a steady stream of new ones to try. This latest edition is all about the look. It’s called Kit Kat Chunky Funky, which is surprisingly fun to say.

The bar has a chocolate wafer centre with a layer of vanilla crème, all coated in marbled milk and white chocolate with a white chocolate base. The wrapper is bright and cheerful, and when I opened it the bar looked just as good, lovely swirls of milk and white chocolate making it stand out. The contrast of the layers inside is spot on too.

In terms of flavour, the new part is the vanilla crème and the addition of white chocolate swirled into the milk chocolate. There are no bold Wasabi or Cherry Blossom-style experiments like Japan is enjoying right now, but this bar does look fabulous. Taste-wise it was very similar to a regular Kit Kat. The texture is the same, with the wafer layers giving way to the thick chocolate coating. The flavour reminded me of a standard milk chocolate Kit Kat, but with a creamier edge. It actually reminded me a little of Kinder Egg chocolate, thanks to the mix of the two types.

It’s a fun new bar for summer, and very Instagram-able, which I suspect is exactly what they were going for.

Nestle Kit Kat Nescafé Mocha Flavour (Ocado) By @SpectreUK

Nestle Kit Kat Nescafé Mocha Flavour

A Kit Kat is ideal for a quick break. I don't see them in the adverts on TV so much these days. I remember the paper and foil packaging, and someone running their fingernail down the centre to break the two chocolate wafer sticks apart, to complete the "quick break" pun.

Nowadays, the packaging has changed to plastic, like most other chocolate bars, which is a shame I think. Although you may see me as a traditionalist, I still think the paper and foil was better for the environment.

Nestle Kit Kat Nescafé Mocha Flavour

This new Nestle Kit Kat Nescafé Mocha Flavour should be good for a quick afternoon coffee break. There was a strong smell of coffee on opening the packet. It was then I remembered I have never liked Nescafe instant coffee. Having said that, on taste there was a good strong flavour of coffee, which mixed perfectly with the chocolate and wafer flavours.

I'd definitely recommend this Nestle Kit Kat Nescafé Mocha Flavour, especially if you like a low calorie chocolate treat with your quick coffee break.

Information on the packet; Each Kit Kat contains 104 calories, with 5.1g of fat, 10.2g of sugar, and 0.05g of salt. Please see photograph for the ingredients.

Kit Kat Hazelnut (WHSmith) – By @Cinabar

Kit Kat Hazelnut

I picked up this Kit Kat Hazelnut bar from a WHSmith at a motorway service station. Since then, I’ve heard that WHSmith is struggling and closing many high street branches. I’m not sure what that means for the ones on the motorway, but I always enjoy a browse and picking out some chocolate on a long journey.

Anyway, back to the Kit Kat Hazelnut. I love nuts and chocolate, so I was naturally excited to try this. British Kit Kats tend to play it safe with flavours, we don’t get many bold or unusual varieties, and hazelnut certainly isn’t new. However, this is the first hazelnut sharing bar I’ve seen, and it’s a good-looking one, with attractive marbled chocolate.

Kit Kat Hazelnut

Once opened, I saw the bar was laid out in strips, each with a break point in the middle. Though, really, who offers just half a strip?

I tried a full one, and really liked the taste. There was plenty of chocolate, and the hazelnut flavour was smooth, nutty and well balanced. It’s not a game-changer, but it’s solid. The marbling looks nice but doesn’t do much for the flavour. Still, I’m a fan, and I’d happily buy it again.

Nescafé Kit Kat Latte (Iceland) – By @Cinabar

Nescafé Kit Kat Latte

The problem with Kit Kat is that it is mostly a chocolatey experience. The most distinctive thing about a Kit Kat when you eat it is the texture, the snap of a piece breaking off and the soft crunch when you bite in. These elements do not translate well to a coffee. So, naturally, my first thought was that this would just taste like a standard mocha, with coffee and chocolate being the dominant flavours. Still, I was curious, so I bought a box anyway.

Once home, I put the kettle on and opened the box. There were seven sachets (limited editions never seem to have eight anymore). As soon as I tore one open, I got a sweet aroma. I mixed the contents with hot water, and it blended smoothly with no lumps, leaving a nice froth on top.

The drink smelled like a mix of coffee and chocolate. On my first sip, I thought I could detect a hint of wafer, perhaps even something creamy like vanilla. There was a slight edge that set it apart from a regular mocha, but as expected, it was very similar. Still, it was a lovely, soothing, sweet chocolate and coffee drink, and I will happily enjoy the rest of the box.

Kit Kat Cookies and Cream (Asda) by @Cinabar

Kit Kat Cookies and Cream

I spotted this new multipack of Kit Kat Cookies and Cream in the supermarket and thought they looked like the perfect size for an afternoon treat with a coffee.

The packaging proudly highlights that it’s recycled and recyclable, which is fantastic. That said, I do wish our local council would collect soft plastics as part of their recycling programme. They’re quite poor in this area (or should I say rubbish, for the pun?), and they won’t even accept recyclable toothpaste tubes. You have to rely on supermarkets that offer collection points instead.

The new Kit Kat Cookies and Cream bars feature both milk chocolate and creamy white chocolate on top, making them look quite appealing. Flavour-wise, they’re not too far removed from a regular Kit Kat, but with a creamier taste and a stronger biscuit flavour. The texture delivers the usual winning combination of biscuit and chocolate, which I’ve always enjoyed.

At just 105 calories per stick, they’re a light and not overly indulgent snack. Unlike some of the more adventurous flavours you can find in Japan (like wasabi!), this is a gentle new addition to the range. It’s easy to eat and paired perfectly with my coffee.

Kit Kat Hazelnut Cream Duo (Morrisons) by @Cinabar

Kit Kat Hazelnut Cream Duo

Nuts and chocolate are one of my favourite combinations, and Kit Kat does a great job with these flavours. I absolutely adore the Kit Kat Peanut Butter, and this bar is essentially that, only with hazelnut spread. I couldn’t wait to relive this great bar! I say "relive" because, as with many nut or caramel editions of Kit Kat, it has been available before, though not for several years.

This bar is a Duo, meaning there are two smaller bars in the pack, perfect for sharing or saving one for later. Of course, you could just eat both at once, I’m not here to judge!

I opened up the pack and tried the first bar of the Kit Kat Hazelnut Cream Duo. I loved what I found: the classic layers of wafer and chocolate combined with a rich, creamy hazelnut flavour that hit the spot perfectly. It was chocolatey, nutty, and a delight. While I still favour the peanut butter version, this is a gorgeous bar I’ll definitely buy again, who knows how long it will be around?

Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Crunchy Double Choc (Tesco) By @SpectreUK

Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Crunchy Double Choc

I fancied a break during my weight lifting earlier. I haven't had a Kit Kat for a while, I must get some more in. I especially love Kit Kat Chunkys. I found this Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Crunchy Double Choc waiting for me in the Foodstufffinds cupboard. I do love chocolate, so anything that states "Double Choc" is going to grab my attention.

Nestle Kit Kat Chunky Crunchy Double Choc

As you can see from the photograph there was soft dark chocolate ganache nestled in between the familiar wafers. On taste there was definitely a decent crunch. I exclaimed a long "Mmmmm….", which is certainly a good sign indeed. The creamy milk chocolate coating melted in the mouth to join the dark chocolate ganache for a merry dance in between the crunchy wafers. I definitely have to get some more of these.

Information on the wrapper; The 42g contained 223 calories, with 6.9g of fat, 18.7g of sugar, and 0.08g of salt. Please see photograph for the ingredients.

Nestle Kit Kat Chunky with Lotus Biscoff White Chocolate (Morrison’s Local) By @SpectreUK

Nestle Kit Kat Chunky with Lotus Biscoff White Chocolate

I could do with a break. A chunky break, like a Nestle Kit Kat Chunky with Lotus Biscoff White Chocolate. I do love white chocolate. I do love Lotus Biscoff, especially with ice cream. They make great edible ice cream shovels. I usually love Kit Kat Chunkys. There's something about biting into them, whereas you can snap a regular Kit Kat, you still don't get so much extra flavour. A Kit Kat Chunky is all about the extra flavour.

I've previously tried the milk chocolate Bite Size and also the milk chocolate Chunky Lotus Biscoff before and loved them. This new Nestle Kit Kat Chunky with Lotus Biscoff White Chocolate bar will be an afternoon treat after my workout today. As you can see from the photograph on opening the wrapper the white chocolate bar had a Biscoff spread on top of two wafers inside.

Nestle Kit Kat Chunky with Lotus Biscoff White Chocolate

On taste the white chocolate had luscious creaminess, the Biscoff spread gave way adding mixed spice to the creamy white chocolate flavour, and the wafers gave a good crunch. I could quite honestly eat this Nestle Kit Kat Chunky with Lotus Biscoff White Chocolate bar for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and more for afters all day everyday. I think they should probably put a warning on it.

Information on the wrapper; The 42g bar had 224 calories, with 5.8g of fat, 19.5g of sugar, 0.13g of salt. Please see photograph for the ingredients.

Seriously Spooky Ghosts - Kitkat Sweet Potato (Korean) [@NLi10]

Happy Halloween leftovers!  Spotted these in the Korean grocery shop, but obviously left over from Trick-Or-Treat.  They'd not been discounted but need to be eaten pretty fast.

The theming and bag is top notch - it even folds out to make a pumpkin display (if you can be bothered to colour it in)

As usual these are made in the one special KitKat factory in Japan they opened for all the weird flavours - and is just a specific regional variation.

Super packaging - all the same flavour though.

And that flavour is white chocolate kitkat.  Seriously - If I gave this to someone and said 'what does it taste of' then the answer would be white chocolate.

No wonder then that at £5 a bag they had quite a few left.  Not disappointing - as these are still crunchy and taste great, but I think I paid a lot more just to recycle some spooky packaging in April.  Ah well.

Kit Kat Churro Edition (Candy Mail) By @Cinabar

Kit Kat Churro Edition

Churros are doughnuts shaped into a finger or loop and then coated in cinnamon sugar. They are often served with a dip of liquid chocolate. It should come as no surprise, with my love of cinnamon, that churros are one of my favourite desserts. This Kit Kat, sadly, isn’t a UK edition; it was from an import shop, and it was made in America. Apparently they have a national Churros Day in America too, which sounds awesome.

I opened up the Kit Kat and found that the bar was a caramel colour, not milk chocolate. I gave it a test and found it to be far creamier and sweeter than I thought it would be. The flavour had more of a a fudge like taste than that of a doughnut, and the cinnamon sweetness was gentle. I still liked it because I love the spice, but really, I would have been very happy if they had added twice as much spice! Cinnamon for the win. Still a lovely Kit Kat, but perhaps not quite enough of the cinnamon magic as I had hoped for. I would very much like a UK Kit Kat Christmas edition that is cinnamon flavoured, that would be my thing.

Kit Kat Hazelnut Chunky (Tesco) By @Cinabar

Kit Kat Hazelnut Chunky

There is a new autumnal flavour out from Kit Kat, and it doesn’t even mention caramel on the label. Good times indeed. We have had a lot of caramel-type flavours for Kit Kat here in the UK; it must be one of our favourite things or a guaranteed success for a brand, so it is rather nice to see something a bit different. Dearest chocolate and nut fans, let me present Kit Kat Hazelnut Chunky.

I opened up the wrapper and could instantly smell the nutty goodness of hazelnut. It gave the bar a try and found that the nut taste was lovely and strong; it mixed well with the chocolate. The rich tones of hazelnut and the milk chocolate reminded me of Nutella; these flavours just work. Obviously all the crisp textures were there from Kit Kat too, but I love texture, so the Kit Kat Chunky format works for me, through the nutty taste of hazelnuts, and I found it a complete delight. I’d be very happy if this Kit Kat Hazelnut Chunky bar stayed for a while, as it is a lovely seasonal edition.

Kit Kat Caramel 4 Fingers (Tesco) By @Cinabar

Kit Kat Caramel 4 Fingers

There was something a little unconvincing about the word ‘new’ on this four-finger Kit Kat Caramel. Something just doesn’t feel that new or that different, if I’m honest. So I had a look back at previous Kit Kat reviews we’ve posted, and I found eight others that were similar. So this four-finger bar is new in the UK, but Kit Kat loves their caramel flavours, so it isn’t exactly that exciting.

I felt a little unenthusiastic, but I unwrapped the bar. There was a heady aroma of dark caramel and chocolate, which was rather nice, to be fair. I split a finger of Caramel Kit Kat from the bar and gave it a try. There is no argument that this was a nice bar. The caramel was rich and dark, and it had a slightly bitter burnt flavour that was lovely with the chocolate. It was a tasty bar, even if there was no gooey caramel inside it. I think they are just sticking with the idea that you can’t go wrong with caramel, and you can’t; this bar does taste good. I am just struggling to get excited about another caramel bar on the market, but I appreciate that this won’t be the last caramel Kit Kat variant to appear on the blog. For those wondering, here are just some of the others I could find:

Kit Kat Bites Lotus Biscoff (Iceland) By @Cinabar

Kit Kat Bites Lotus Biscoff

I start the blog with a note about the weather. It is roasting hot in the UK. These Kit Kat Bites Lotus Biscoff flavour were on the kitchen table, near a window with the sun shining in. Although they are pretty much in tact, the reason they look a little melted is because there was a bit of a delay before I realised where they were and put them in the fridge. Oops, I should know better.

Anyway, once rescued and cooled down, I opened up the bag of these Kit Kat Bites Lotus Biscoff variety and gave them the taste test. The lotus biscoff flavour shone through. I love those kinds of spices, especially the cinnamon, and these were an absolute dream to munch on. There is a nice mix of textures: the soft biscuit spread, the crunchy bits of biscuit, and the chocolate. These are moreish and seriously tasty. I love Biscoff, so I was in heaven. I just wish I hadn’t let them melt a bit. My advice, along with trying to stay cool, is to keep yourself hydrated and store your chocolates in a safe place.

Kit Kat Blueberry Muffin (Candy Mail) By @cinabar

Kit Kat Blueberry Muffin

It has been too long since my last interesting imported Kit Kat blog, so I thought I would have a look and see what I could find that was out at the moment. This American Kit Kat Blueberry Muffin did not disappoint, with a unique flavour and an even more unique colour! The packaging promises a lilac coloured bar, and I couldn’t wait to see it.

I opened up the wrapper and found a bar that was a bit dull in color; there was plenty of grey mixed in, which isn’t quite so appetising. The good part was the aroma, it smelled absolutely lovely.

I gave the Kit Kat Blueberry Muffin bar a try, and the flavour made up for the appearance, it was spot on. I was expecting, I think, a bit of a generic blueberry taste, but this was a proper blueberry muffin flavour. There was a lovely cake-like goodness mixed into the taste, the sharper berry hit off the fruit, and even a bit of warming spice like a touch of cinnamon mixed in for the full effect. It was a delight to eat! I totally forgive the colour of the bar, never judge a book by its cover, as they say.

Kit Kat Mini Strawberry Pop Choc (Candy Mail) By @cinabar

Kit Kat Mini Strawberry Pop Choc

I got these super cute Kit Kat Mini Strawberry Pop Choc from an import shop. To be honest, the packaging is in Japanese, but they look like Pop Chocs, a product that Kit Kat makes and the pink and the fruit on the pack lead me to strawberry as a flavour.

Inside the bag are cubes of wafer covered in chocolate, they are in a resealable bag, but I’m not sure if Kit Kat understands how much I can munch in one portion.

I gave them a try, but I have to admit the flavour wasn’t as sweet as I had expected. The strawberry flavour is quite sharp and zingy, which was a good contrast with the creamier milk chocolate. They tasted good, and I liked the flavour combination, even if wasn’t that sweet strawberry cream flavour I’d been expecting. I wish we got bags like this Kit Kat Mini Strawberry Pop Choc in the UK as they are such a nice idea for gazing on during the day.

Kit Kat Chunky Lotus Biscoff (Tesco) By @SpectreUK

Kit Kat Chunky Lotus Biscoff

Finally someone listens to me. Okay, so it probably wasn't me, but at least Nestle have created what I wanted. A couple of months ago I blogged about a mini Kit Kat Lotus Biscoff. I said that compared to the amount of calories that were in it, the bar was way too tiny. I also said that all I could think about at the time was a Kit Kat Chunky. Well, now Nestle have produced a Kit Kat Chunky Lotus Biscoff.

I had a good cup of fairly milky tea with a couple of original Lotus Biscoff on the side to compare their flavour with this Kit Kat Chunky Lotus Biscoff. On opening the wrapper I could see the thick coating of Nestle milk chocolate. On first bite there was a topper of creamy Lotus Biscoff followed by three wafers underneath. This bar had a good crunch and a little spiciness from the Lotus Biscoff flavour. Not as spicy as the original Lotus Biscoff, but the flavour was there all the same, and all covered in luscious milk chocolate.

This Kit Kat Chunky Lotus Biscoff was very flavoursome indeed and I'd definitely have it in regularly. It went rather well with my cup of milky tea and original Lotus Biscoff on the side. I even managed to save a little calories for some toffee popcorn and vanilla ice cream too.

Information on the wrapper; Per 42g bar was 221 calories, with 5.8g of fat, 18.9g of sugar, 0.12g of salt. Please see see attached photograph for the ingredients.

Nestle Kit Kat Orange (Co-Op) flavour By @SpectreUK

Nestle Kit Kat Orange

I'm almost sure I've had this before. This new Nestle Kit Kat Orange bar feels like it should have been around for years. Although Cinabar assures me that this format of four sticks just come out in the shops in the UK. Apparently they came out in a multipack as two stick packets a while back, but we didn't write about them then. However Cinabar did blog about the Kit Kat Chunky Orange flavour a while back.

I may have mentioned that we're not very adventurous here in the UK where chocolate flavours are concerned. I'm sure people would buy more of a range of flavours if they were available. Maybe we don't have a good reputation for an adventurous nature where snacking is concerned. I wouldn't mind trying a blackcurrant flavour Kit Kat.

There was an orange aroma on opening the packet. The four sticks had the usual Kit Kat wafers and milk chocolate coatings, and with an added orange tang to them. This tangy orange flavour was very flavoursome indeed. I really liked this Nestle Kit Kat Orange flavour and would definitely have them again.

Information on the packet; At 41.5g this bar is 208 calories for the four sticks, with 5.6g of fat, 20.5g of sugar, and 0.09g of salt. Please see photograph for the ingredients.

Nestle Kit Kat Lotus Biscoff (Candy Mail) By @SpectreUK

Nestle Kit Kat Lotus Biscoff

I love Lotus Biscoff biscuits. I love their spicy crunchiness with a good cup of tea. I love Nestle Kit Kats. So you'd think I'd love them both together. However this tiny Nestle Kit Kat Lotus Biscoff chocolate bar is packed full of calories.

Now I know most people don't calorie count. A lot of people on diets cut out all the snack foods such as crisps and chocolate, biscuits and cakes, but I like my balanced diet and limiting my calories to try to match the huge amount of exercise I do. I have to treat myself, otherwise just eating lettuce gets me seriously down.

So what's my problem, you may ask? Well, these Nestle Kit Kat Lotus Biscoff chocolate bars are tiny at 93 calories. A Kit Chunky, where I feel like I'm eating a real thick chocolate bar (because I am) is 203 calories. Whereas a Lotus Biscoff biscuit is 37 calories and they are around the same length as this Nestle Kit Kat Lotus Biscoff chocolate bar.

I know I don't make snacks, but when I'm eating a chocolate bar I do like to feel like I'm savouring it. Barely two bites and this Nestle Kit Kat Lotus Biscoff was gone, in fact I was being polite. I could just have dumped the whole thing in my gob. It tasted great. Really. Lovely Nestle milk chocolate, wafer crunch and a little spice from the Lotus Biscoff, but before I knew it, it was gone. And I was craving a Kit Kat Chunky!
