Toblerone Crispy Salted Caramel (Tesco) By @cinabar

I’m just going to say it, Toblerone are a little late to the salted caramel party. The flavour peaked a few years ago! Still, it is always a good flavour, so I was keen to try this Toblerone Crispy Salted Caramel. When I bought it at the till, the lady serving me said it was her new favourite, so that sounded positive. It is also available in a bigger, giftable size, but I picked up the smaller bar as it was just for me.

I opened the bar and broke a piece off. It was surprisingly soft and broke really easily. Now, it is warm today, but at around 22°C, it shouldn’t have been quite that soft. I was expecting a bit more of a snap, so that was slightly weird.

The flavour was fab, though. This chocolate bar is packed with crispy caramel pieces and salt, giving it a proper sweet and savoury mix. The salt really makes the flavour pop. They may be late to the party, but they absolutely nailed it.

The melting point was weird, though, so I put what was left in the fridge.

Last week, having chocolate melt at room temperature made sense because the whole country was basically melting too! But today, it really should have been a little more solid. Still, the flavour more than makes up for the slightly strange melting point.

Tiny Toblerone (Asda) By @Cinabar

I absolutely love the look of this huge bag filled with mini chocolate bars. When I was a child, I used to get so excited about miniature chocolate bars, like the ones in a box called Neapolitans. They were tiny, not like fun-sized bars, but closer to 2cm across and came in a mix of flavours. There’s just something so fun about miniature things, and I used to pretend to be a giant while eating them. Naturally, I was eager to see what these Tiny Toblerone were like.

I opened the bag (which unfortunately didn’t have a resealable top) and found three types of mini bars inside. All of them featured the classic nut nougat of regular Toblerone, but in miniature form and made with three different types of chocolate. When I unwrapped them, the bars were smaller than I’d expected, but each still had the iconic three triangles. I didn’t bother breaking them apart, I just ate them whole!

The white Tiny Toblerone was lovely; sweet, creamy, and indulgent. The dark chocolate one was rich, with lots of cocoa and a deeply satisfying flavour. Of course, the milk chocolate version is the original and, in my opinion, still the best.

Every Christmas, Toblerone brings out massive bars that make fun gifts, but they’re so awkward to eat. After the novelty wears off, you’re left hacking pieces off with a knife and trying to gnaw through enormous chunks of chocolate. I can’t tell you how much I’d prefer receiving a bag like this instead of a giant bar. And yes, I still felt a bit like a giant eating these cute little bars!

Toblerone Truffles (Tesco) By @Cinabar

The worst thing about Toblerone is trying to break pieces off the bar. There, I said it. The chunkier the Toblerone, the harder it is to get to the chocolate. They say to push the pieces in to release them instead of pulling them, and that still doesn’t work too well. So Toblerone has solved their own problem by selling a box of wrapped pieces instead.

To be honest, these are actually truffles rather than exactly what you get in the bar, but I thought I would give them a try.

Opening wise, this is a win: a card box and simple wrappers! Lol. The chocolate smells like Toblerone, and the flavour is very similar; it lacks that sticky texture and honey from the nougat, but it still tastes clearly of Toblerone. The centre is softer, but there are generous amounts of nuts.

These new Toblerone Truffles are tasty and very easy to snack on. I’m expecting to finish the box with a Friday night gaming session without any worry of the hassle of sharing an oversize bar.

Toblerone Orange Twist (Tesco) By @Cinabar

This Toblerone Orange Twist has the feel of a Christmas product, but my local Tesco didn’t have it in stock until now, perhaps they forgot to put the bars out! Whatever the reason, it is new to me, and I couldn’t resist picking up one of the bars for an indulgent treat. It is an indulgent treat too, it is one of the big Toblerone bars, and I couldn't wait to give it a try.

 

I opened the bar and engaged in the usual struggle to get a piece of chocolate off it. I bent the chocolate inward, which is supposed to work, and the top broke off, so I used a knife. Part of the fun of Toblerone is trying to eat it, apparently. 

I gave the chocolate a try and really liked the orange flavour. It is fairly mild unless you get a bit of orange peel, and that made it quite interesting to eat. There is a gentle warmth from some ginger too, which is rather nice. This Toblerone Orange Twist is a good Winter Edition bar, all I need now is to figure out how to get the next piece off.

Christmas Toblerone Latte (Costa) By @Cinabar

It’s Christmas time! Well, I spotted in Costa today that the Christmas drinks have hit the shelves, so that is practically the same thing. I had a browse of the menu and decided I would try the Costa Toblerone Latte. I would have tried a Toblerone hot chocolate but I was on my way to work so I needed a bit more of a caffeine hit. It was for a day of meetings and presentations.

The person in the shop made my drink, decorated it with the sprinkles and gave me a mini Toblerone to go with it, I have to admit it looked super pretty. I was fine with having a mini Toblerone for breakfast too. I’m a big fan of Costa in general but I have to admit to being a little underwhelmed by this Toblerone Latte drink. For me, my latte should have had chocolate, nuts and honey flavours to mimic the chocolate bar. In reality, I got a little bit of nut in the flavour and that was it. It wasn’t even fun and sweet like a hazelnut latte with syrup. The base coffee was nice and it was fine, but honestly the best part was the mini Toblerone chocolate. I do wonder whether she actually missed out some syrup that was supposed to go in the drink? Such a shame, at least the caffeine burst from the coffee got me through my morning. Next time I’ll pick up a hot chocolate for the way home.

Toblerone Gold - Golden Caramel With Honey and Almond Nougat (Tesco) By @Cinabar

I think I have to start this post with a bit of back history about the price. I rarely write about the price of items we’ve bought for Foodstuff Finds, as most items cost us less than £2 and those that are a little bit more expensive from time to time are a bit of an indulgence. When Toblerone first announced their new Toblerone Gold Edition Golden Caramel With Honey and Almond Nougat bar, I wanted one, naturally. I went to buy one online as it was an online exclusive at the time and it came with a personalised pack and a price tag of £17.50. I stopped, it was a ridiculous price for a bar and even though I did consider it, I couldn’t do it. I speak as someone who has spent several pounds on exotic foreign Kit Kat specials, but one bar for that price and I knew I’d have to let it go.

So, as you may have spotted from the title, I went on to find this bar in the supermarket with a much more palatable price tag of £3.50, and excitedly snapped one up. I’ve not had Toblerone for a while but the rush of nostalgia from Christmases past hit me. Finding a large Toblerone under the tree was super exciting. I opened the bar and ripped into the foil, the aroma of caramel was sweet and strong. Toblerone is an awkward shaped bar, it makes it unique but also difficult to eat. The internet has taught me how to break the pieces off. As a kid I’d wrestle them off outward and in an undignified manor, but apparently the internet said if I pressed the piece inwards toward the rest of the bar it would break off, and it did! Who knew! Did they add more space between the pieces? Is that why it is easier?

These are big chunky pieces, and they are still a bit difficult to eat, but that is my kind of problem. The flavour is sugary sweet, with soothing tones of caramel, and then the honey almond nougat kicks in. The bar doesn’t have the best texture as the nougat is sticky, but I like it because of the memories that it generates. I love the sweet new caramel version of Toblerone, it is rich and comforting. I will definitely try and pick up another Toblerone Gold Edition Golden Caramel With Honey and Almond Nougat bar, so long as it is £3.50!

Toblerone Schokoladen-Torte - Luxury Chocolate Desert! (@NLi10)

It's Eurovision weekend - so lets pop to Lidl and break out the luxury deals - in this case an 8 slice Toblerone chocolate desert!

I'm not one for deserts that don't include fruit (red and green fruit anyway) or pastry, but this looked a little bit special.  450g of nutty wonder.

Being frozen you can basically just cut and defrost a portion at a time.

1/8th each for the Semi-finals, and a 1/4 each for the main event should suffice?

And this is pretty filling stuff - the nuts and the layers make this tiny looking slice a wonderful battle to eat.  It tastes like the real thing too - less hard choc, but more like the flavour they sneak into the choc mix, and the almond & nougat pieces.  Very much something I'm tempted to buy a 2nd and hide at the back of the freezer for when people can come round to sample it.

Lidl have done it again and delivered a top luxury Eurocake for a pretty budget price!
