Soreen Fruit & Veg-Mmms Berry & Beetroot Bakes (Gifted) By @SpectreUK

Soreen Fruit & Veg-Mmms Berry & Beetroot Bakes

You may have seen in the past that I have written a few reviews about different flavours of Soreen. Soreen very kindly recently sent me two new flavours to write about. The first was Orange & Black Carrot flavour, and they were most enjoyable. I may have been avoiding this second new flavour a little… These Soreen Fruit & Veg-Mmms Berry & Beetroot Bakes are the second new Mmms flavour of theirs. I do like berries and I also like beetroot, although I had a run in with beetroot juice a few years back that I'd prefer to forget.

Packed full of fruit and vegetables these mini Soreen Berry & Beetroot Bakes promise a lot of flavour. There is a plethora of fruit and vegetable juices mixed in with the ingredients. So much so that I can't tell what they might taste like without biting into one. So here it goes…

On opening the packet there was a pinkish red colour to the loaf. From the ingredients I was a little bit apprehensive about the flavour… if it tasted solely of beetroot I didn't think I'd be able to cope with it. Fortunately the loaf tastes predominantly of blackberries, with a hint of sweet pear after the initial blackberry flavour, and then there's a mild earthiness from the beetroot into the aftertaste.

I genuinely thought these Soreen Fruit & Veg-Mmms Berry & Beetroot Bakes would not be very nice, simply because of the beetroot in the ingredients. However there is so much sweet blackberry fruitiness to begin with on biting into a loaf that I hardly noticed the beetroot at all, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I'd certainly have these again for a sweet healthy fruity and veggie snack after my lunch.

Information on the packet;
5 x bakes at 30g per loaf, each of which have 96 calories, 0.8g of fat, 5.8g of sugar and 0.2g of salt. Please see photograph for the ingredients.

I thought these very tasty too.
Incidentally, that "run in" with beetroot juice: did it involve run but no in? ;-)
