Spooky Edition Oreo (Tesco) By @Cinabar

Spooky Edition Oreo

Would anyone like to guess what flavour these new Spooky Edition Oreo biscuits are? I’ll give you a clue, they have a bright orange filling. A first guess might be that they’re orange-flavoured to match the colour, but you’d be wrong. Maybe pumpkin spice, which would fit the Halloween theme perfectly? Nope, wrong again. These seasonal biscuits are, wait for it… vanilla! Yes, the same flavour as regular Oreos. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed when I found out.

On the positive side, the biscuits do feature a fun spooky pumpkin design moulded into the cookie, which adds a nice Halloween touch. The bright orange filling, though not flavoured, certainly adds to the Halloween vibes and is visually striking. And of course, the Oreo biscuit itself tastes great, it’s the classic chocolate and vanilla combo that’s always a winner, and one I buy regularly. There's even a bonus: a discount offer for Warwick Castle, which is a nice perk!

But honestly, what would have made these Spooky Edition Oreos truly special is if they had a limited-edition seasonal flavour. Oreo is known for releasing fun, unique flavours, so it feels like a missed opportunity here. Pumpkin spice, caramel apple, or even something completely unexpected could have added that extra "wow" factor to the Halloween experience. While the biscuits are still enjoyable, I can’t help but wish for something a bit more creative.

Terry’s Chocolate Milk... (Not Orange) (Morrisons) By @Cinabar

Terry’s Chocolate Milk... (Not Orange)

Nothing sounds more enticing than the slogan on the side of the box of this new product from Terry’s: “Milk Chocolate Flavoured Chocolate." Thats how I always like my milk chocolate, milk chocolate flavoured. Here we have the Terry’s Milk Chocolate... And that is where the name ends; the next most obvious word would be ‘orange’ but there is no orange, so the name sort of hangs. Terry’s Chocolate Milk Ball?

Terry’s Chocolate Milk... (Not Orange)

This is like a chocolate orange, in that it is the same shape and has the same segments but significantly is just milk chocolate. We don’t know why. All the exciting editions they could have gone with, and they chose flavourless.Sorry, I meant milk chocolate flavoured milk chocolate. I opened up the pack; the Terry’s Chocolate Milk item (?) was in a blue wrapper. I tapped it and unwrapped it. The segments looked like pieces of chocolate orange (they had the same markings), but the flavour was just milk chocolate. It was nice too; the chocolate was good. It was sweet and creamy, with a nice cocoa taste. It was a good solid chocolate, but I just was left thinking I’m just not sure it is something I’d buy again. It turns out that I like my Terry’s chocolate flavoured, but I totally appreciate there will be fans for this.

Cadbury’s Mini Bonfire Logs (@NLi10)

It’s seasonal variation time again! Skipping straight through Halloween (the best snack holiday because everything is slimy and orangey) we are treated to something for Guy Fawkes - where everything tastes of burning!

Here we see the classic mini roll - but with a fiery twist! Part of me was hoping this would be chilli jam, but wisely they went down the honeycomb route.

Logs are individually wrapped - which is fine now that we can recycle this stuff locally - and infection friendly.

And the one I had seemed to be a little cracked - I wondered if this was deliberate shaping, but it’s more likely it just got a bit squished in transit.

And the insides are certainly interesting! A definite honeycomb flavour, but with one of the crunch. More of a burnt caramel flavour I think than honey - but it worked surprisingly well.

On theme, on flavour, and while disappointingly small - a decent little snack!

Lady Gaga's Perfectly Ordinary Oreos (@NLi10)

Spotted these hiding in our local paper shop. Lady Gaga Oreos!

Luna seems unimpressed - wonder why?

These are just Original Vanilla Oreos?

A design inspired by Lady Gaga - she might not even know these exist! Some decided that she likes Pink & QR codes and that's it.

No pink vanilla creme or anything!

Tasty but very ordinary.

M&MS Peanut Spooky Colours Edition (Boots) By @cinabar

Oh MnMs you don’t make it easy for me. Every year I think this will be the year where we get some exciting themed Halloween edition, perhaps Pumpkin Spice flavour, and every year I’m left disappointed. This year we have a Spooky Colours edition, which are just regular peanut MnMs in select colours.

The spooky colours are orange (a classic Halloween colour and the colour of pumpkins), green (Halloween slime?) and brown (errr, nope I got nothing). The peanut, chocolate and candy shell works, but of course it does. I love nuts and chocolate so these tasted good, and the packet looked smartly themed. It had a funky Jack-o’-lantern shape on the front. The idea of just changing the colours feels like it's lacking effort for a proper Halloween edition, but they still tasted good.
I think I might go and see what interesting flavours are available in the import shops for Halloween from the States. I’ll eat those while I look forward to the red/green peanut MnMs inevitably coming out for Christmas here.

Limited Edition Halloween M&Ms (Tesco) [By @Cinabar]

I’m going to cut to the chase, before you get excited about the latest “Limited Edition” Halloween M&Ms, don’t. Yet again they have totally avoided releasing anything interesting in the UK and the entire bag is filled with ordinary peanut M&Ms, only coloured orange and green. My frustration is not due to a dislike of peanuts and chocolate, far from it I am a big fan. It is the pain when they put the phrase “Limited Edition” on the packet, and you get your hopes up for some crazy flavour, and then you realise just how disappointing the contents are, Halloween coloured shells is as good as it gets.
When you think about our friends in The States munching on their Halloween Candy Apple flavoured M&Ms I think it fair to look at them with jealous eyes. There are loads of flavoured M&Ms in other countries, but the UK is as ever left out. For those that read my post on Christmas M&Ms and find this a bit repetitive, it is fair to say my disappointment is becoming a seasonal affliction.
Anyway as these chocs aren’t wrapped I will be forced to eat them myself and not give any out to Trick or Treaters. Buying them, being disappointed with them and having to eat them is just one of the many sacrifices I have made for this blog! Go me! ;-)

Happy Halloween Everyone!!
