Nestlé Aero Milkybar (Ocado) By @SpectreUK

I have a cheese, cold meats, baked bread and port meal tonight. I’m looking for something creamy and chocolatey to have with some ice cream for later.

These Nestlé Aero Milkybar sound like a creamy treat. On the packet they are described as white chocolate shells filled with vanilla flavoured bubbles. They sound ideal with a vanilla ice cream topped with squirty cream.

As you can see from the photograph, these Nestlé Aero Milkybar are white chocolate balls, similar to the Milkybar Crunchy Pops, I wrote about the other day.

On eating these Nestlé Aero Milkybar taste like aerated super creamy Milkybar white chocolate. They were ridiculously moreish, and didn’t last long, I can tell you.

Aero Pistachio (Tesco) By @Cinabar

Pistachio is still absolutely everywhere at the moment, so it was only a matter of time before Aero joined in with the trend. Their latest big bar flavour is this new Aero Pistachio, which I picked up in Tesco. The wrapper is a muted green shade rather than the loud bright green used for mint, and there is also a competition on pack for The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Inside, the bar has Aero’s classic bubbly texture with a milk chocolate shell surrounding a pistachio flavoured aerated centre. The filling itself is also green, again a subtler shade. 

Texture-wise, this is exactly what you would expect from an Aero bar. The bubbles make it light, chunky and easy to bite into, while the chocolate melts away quickly. I have always liked the texture of Aero and this version works particularly well because the pistachio flavour comes across as soft and creamy rather than overly nutty.

Taste-wise, it is pleasant and surprisingly balanced. Personally, I still think peanut or hazelnut are stronger pairings with chocolate overall, but the pistachio here has a creamy richness that works nicely with the milk chocolate. It feels quite smooth and mellow rather than intensely nutty.

Overall, this is a tasty addition to the Aero range and definitely worth trying if you are fully on board with the pistachio craze. It may not convert pistachio sceptics, but for fans of the flavour trend it is an enjoyable chocolate bar with a lovely light texture.

Aero Melts Double Choc Brownie Bakery Inspired (Morrisons) By @Cinabar

Aero has a new “bakery inspired” flavour out, this time based on Double Choc Brownies. Inside the bag are two shades of button, milk chocolate and white. I did wonder if the white ones were meant to represent Blondies, but the bag doesn’t make that clear.

I’m a fan of texture, and this is where Aero always shines. The aerated bubbles in these little buttons were lovely, giving that familiar light melt on the tongue. On texture alone, they absolutely deliver.

The taste was where things started to go wrong. The milk chocolate “Brownie” buttons were chocolatey at first, but quickly became overly sweet. Instead of a rich brownie flavour, they reminded me of cheap chocolate trying too hard.

The white buttons had the same problem. If they were meant to be “Blondies,” they didn’t pull it off. The flavour was again very sweet, and lacking the creamy balance I expect from white chocolate. Aero’s bubble effect was as good as ever, but the actual taste just wasn’t working for me.

Honestly, I think I’d have preferred a simple mix of regular milk and white chocolate Aero buttons. This bakery-inspired twist sounds good on paper, but in practice it didn’t live up to expectations.

Aero Peppermint Chocolate Muffins (Morrisons) By @SpectreUK

I can't remember the last time I had a muffin in my mouth. In fact I've forgotten the taste of a good muffin. Of course muffins come in all different shapes and sizes. And you often have to go out especially to find a good muffin in the first place.

 

Made by Cherrytree Bakery, these Aero Peppermint Chocolate Muffins sound like a tasty treat. They have an Areo Peppermint Bubble on top and are filled with a chocolate peppermint sauce. Cinabar spotted them in the local store and suggested we give them a try. I remember saying how much I like a good muffin.

After a curry and chips it can be important to keep your breath fresh. We had these Aero Peppermint Chocolate Muffins for dessert. On first taste, the texture of this muffin was soft and crumbly. The gooey chocolate peppermint centre was delicious. I had a pot of low calorie vanilla ice cream on the side. I left the Areo Peppermint Bubble until last for an extra treat.

Aero Strawberry Chocolate Bar (Morrisons) By @Cinabar

For summer, we have Aero's new Strawberry Chocolate Bar, which captures the classic flavours of a British summer with its strawberries and milk chocolate combination. This new bar features a milk chocolate coating enveloping pink-coloured bubbles, which are the hallmark of Aero's unique texture.

The bubbles provide a soft yet firm bite, creating a nice contrast that enhances the eating experience. I love texture. Although some might view the bubbles as a novelty, I find them genuinely enjoyable. It adds a lightness to the chocolate that makes it appear more substantial while being easy to bite into.

A memorable comment from a school teacher once suggested that Aero ingeniously sells air, making the chocolate look bigger than it is. Despite the criticism from him, I really like the texture and the satisfying chunkiness of Aero bars, which have clearly been successful for Aero.

Upon unwrapping, the bar releases an amazing, sweet aroma of chocolate and berries, instantly setting the stage for the taste experience. The flavour profile is lovely, with the milk chocolate blending with a sweet strawberry taste reminiscent of a strawberry milkshake. This new Aero Strawberry Chocolate Bar is truly a fruity chocolate delight, perfect for summer indulgence.

Aero Choco-Hazelnut Flavour Chocolate (Morrisons) By @Cinabar

I’m not sure how I feel about fake hazelnut. It seems to be the in thing at the moment, with brands choosing it over the actual nut. I guess it has advantages in that I suspect it is cheaper, and I guess it is easier to have a factory without allergens. Still, I like actual hazelnuts, and that feels more natural for those of us that can tolerate them.

 

Anyway, chocolate and nut (flavour) is one of my favourite combinations, so I was looking forward to giving this a try. Inside the wrapper is a dark-looking, bobbly bar that looked very tempting. There was a nice aroma of chocolate and nut too. 

As per a regular Aero bar, this is full of bubbles and has that lovely texture of being firm and then melting in the mouth. The chocolate is sweet and rich, and the hazelnut flavour does work. I liked the taste and I like the bubbles, and I found myself eating more than I meant to. Perhaps I can cope with the fact that this Aero Choco-Hazelnut Flavour Chocolate is made with flavouring after all. 

Aero Melts Neapolitan Ice Cream (Asda) By @Cinabar

So there is a bit of a theme at the moment, with ice cream flavours becoming popular in confectionery. Aero have decided to go for the classical Neapolitan Ice Cream as their new flavour. I used to love Neapolitan Ice Cream as a kid; it felt like it was a secret way of picking three flavours instead of one for dessert. I would, of course, eat each flavour in order from left to right too, because I didn’t actually want to mix them.

It is a bit easier to sort the colours here as they are in the form of chocolate buttons; each one has bubbles in it too, which is Aero’s thing. I did notice that the chocolate ones are smaller than the other two colours, but only a little.

Strawberry: this was sweet and fruity, but quite mild and creamy too. It had a nice taste, like creamy strawberry ice cream.

Chocolate: pretty sure these are the regular milk chocolate Aero buttons; they are creamy-tasting sweet chocolate.

White: these ones are super creamy and sweet, a white chocolate with added sweetness. I liked it, as I have a high tolerance for sugar.

The texture of all the Aero Melts Neapolitan Ice Cream buttons is lovely, they do properly melt because of the bubbles, and I enjoyed the flavours. I do appreciate they might be a bit sweet for some, though. 

Aero Candy Cane Bubbles (Ocado) By @Cinabar

What flavour are candy canes traditionally? They are peppermint. This concludes today’s Christmas quiz. Candy canes are an American tradition, but they are gaining popularity here in the UK as they are cute to look at and full of minty goodness. I have a few favourite flavours for chocolate, and one of them is peppermint (the others include cinnamon and peanut butter). Anyway, I thought I was in for a treat with a lovely bag of minty chocolate goodness when I picked up this bag of Aero Candy Cane Bubbles.

I opened up the pack and thought the chocolates were super pretty. They are half dark pink and half white, mimicking the candy cane pattern, sort of. I gave one a taste and it had a white chocolate flavour, and that was it. I checked the pack, and these are vanilla flavour, with no mint. Oh my. I didn’t see that coming. I should have checked more thoroughly on the label before tucking in, but why on earth would you call it candy cane and not include any candy cane flavour? So each chocolate has a nice, creamy white chocolate taste with a touch of vanilla. I love Aero; I like the texture of the bubbles. That isn’t the problem; the problem was that these Aero Candy Cane Bubbles should have been mint.

Nescafe Gold Aero Golden Honeycomb Mocha (Asda) By @Cinabar

I love coffee and hot chocolates, and here we have the combination of both: Nescafe Gold Aero Golden Honeycomb Mocha. These new drinks are branded as Aero and flavoured with both their honeycomb bar (or buttons) and, of course, coffee. As it is a special edition of ‘Nescafe Gold', there are only seven sachets in the box instead of the usual eight, and that makes me sad. I mention it every time in the hope that Nescafe Gold will give us back the extra sachet.

So inside the box are individual sachets that you mix up with hot (but not boiling) water. I put the kettle on, poured the contents into a mug, and gave it a little stir. I then left it for a minute, topped it up, and gave it another stir. The drink smelled yummy.

I gave it a sip and was rather impressed at how well defined the honeycomb taste was. It was a lovely sweet cinder toffee flavour, mixed with chocolate and a soothing coffee. What an absolute delight to drink! It was just the perfect afternoon pick me up. Autumn brings a lot of these lovely new hot drinks, but I really hope Nescafe Gold Aero Golden Honeycomb Mocha is here to stay, as it is my favourite so far.

Aero Golden Honeycomb Melts (Sainsburys) By @Cinabar

It is starting to get confusing. I have noticed that whenever the economy is poor, caramel/ honeycomb/ golden white chocolate, etc. flavours increase, presumably because it is a safe bet and nobody wants to launch a risky variety at the minute. It is however getting confusing; Aero Caramel Melts (also in a gold packet) still have a ‘new’ label on them, and when I saw these Aero Golden Honeycomb Melts, I almost didn’t buy them as they look so similar. These are honeycomb the other ones are caramel, both gold bags.

They are thankfully a little different, the honeycomb ones are milk chocolate, and these are caramel white chocolate. Once the bag was opened, there was a lovely rush of cinder toffee aroma, it was sweet and very appealing. Inside the bag are button-shaped chocolates, all made with aerated bubble, which has a lovely texture. The flavour was a delight, it was spot-on sweet burnt toffee, and it was a creamy delight. They are sweet, and maybe too sweet for some, but they worked for me.

I do like caramel/honeycomb/golden white chocolate flavours and these Aero Golden Honeycomb Melts are a delight. I do still crave something more adventurous, a lot of our ‘to review’ pile is caramel in one way or another!

Aero Peppermint Mini Eggs (Tesco) By @Cinabar

My favourite things about food in general is a mix of textures. I like interesting textures, so aerated chocolate is always a winner for me. I like that it looks solid but bubbles and melts away when you bite into it. I also like the combination of mint and chocolate, so when I saw these Aero Peppermint Mini Eggs, I knew I was buying a bag. I know Easter is still a way off, but I do like the snack bags (and boxes) of chocolate eggs, just as a treat.

Inside the bag are very pretty-looking small eggs, half green and half milk chocolate. The colour split is horizontal rather than vertical. There are no annoying foil or wrappers around them either, which is a win, so why slow down the chocolate consumption?

They do taste just like an Aero Mint chocolate bar, with the same balance of mint and cocoa flavours. Admittedly, there is nothing new taste-wise, but they are a cute snack. Perfect for sharing while watching a movie; again, the lack of wrappers is a plus. All in all, I really enjoyed the Aero Peppermint Mini Eggs.

Aero Dark & Milk Peppermint (Tesco) By @Cinabar

I was sure I’d seen this before. I’ve had Mint Aero so often (I love mint chocolate) and I have had Dark Milk Aero and the two things sort of merged in my mind and, despite the ‘new’ label, it felt very familiar. I actually searched on here to see if I had written about it. This might be an age thing now I come to think about it. It turns out I couldn’t find it and that this is properly new, but clearly not the most adventurous flavour in Aero history.

The bar looks very dark once opened and the centre is all dark too, no fun green chocolate here. I gave a piece a try and really liked the flavour. The chocolate was dark, but not bitter, and the peppermint was sweet and fresh. There was quite a bit of mint and the dark chocolate contrasted it nicely. It is a good, well balanced combination of flavours. Aero is so easy to eat, I love the bubble texture and this bar had all that. Maybe not the most imaginative new flavour, but I was very happy with the chocolate and would buy it again. Let’s hope I remember having had it before, next time.

Kit Kat Chunky Aero Mint (Candy Mail) By @Cinabar

There aren’t many crossover chocolate bars around, I mean specifically where one which is flavoured with another. It should happen more as big brands like Cadbury, Mars and Nestle each makes lots of chocolates and I think there is some fun in combining them. This sort of bar is hard to find. I got this online, via an import shop, from Australia. Nestle make both Kit Kat Chunky and Aero and have combined the two into this spectacular bar, Kit Kat Aero Mint. I love chocolate mint so was just so excited to see this.

Once opened the bar does not disappoint. The Aero Mint section of the Kit Kat is green and looks amazing. There is all the usual wafers too of a normal Kit Kat Chunky but with the added fun of green bubbles. Once you bite in the bar is a pleasure to munch on. There is solid chocolate, aerated bubbles and crispy wafers all making it so satisfying to eat. If you like texture in a chocolate bar this will be right up your street. The flavour from the mint is well balanced and refreshing, and mixed with the Kit Kat perfectly. It is fun look at and fun to eat, I wish they made them in this country because I’b be stocking up right now. What next? Aero Mint Munchies need to be a thing.

Aero Black Forest Truffle (Candy Mail) By @Cinabar

There is something about Black Forest Gateaux that always makes me smile. I love chocolate and cherries and I love the retro feel of the cake. When I saw that Aero had released a bar paired with the flavour, I knew I had to get my hands on it, and I managed to track down the illusive Aero Black Forest Truffle via an import shop.

Once the wrapper is off, the Aero bar is really dark looking, the chocolate isn’t far off being black. I like dark chocolate, so I was more than happy with that. I broke a piece of the bar off and I could see a lovely pink truffle filling on the top of the chocolate bubbles. The aroma of cherries was very strong.

I gave the Aero Black Forest Truffle a taste, and firstly I love the texture. Aero bubbles feel firm then soft and I just think aerated chocolate is the perfect texture. The flavour combines two very strong flavours, the rich hefty weight of the cocoa with a strong hit of morello cherry, adding a sharp contrasting tang. I could imagine some might find this bar a bit overpowering, it is rather full on. I liked the playful mix of flavours and found it very enjoyable to eat. I guess the Black Forest Gateaux cake that this is based on has cream to help tame the flavours and it is that calming influence that is missing. Even without that, this bar is a winner for me.

Aero Caramel Melts (Morrisons) By @Cinabar

So here we have another new caramel variation of a chocolate brand. I am in two minds about caramel. On one side, I love caramel and on the other, I want innovation, fun and crazy innovations. Fruity Cereal flavoured Kit Kat anyone? Yes please bring it on. At least these Aero Caramel Melts have a new shape that is at least a little bit different.

I opened up the bag and the aroma from the caramel was both strong and enticing. The discs of chocolate are small though, button sized and not too thick. I gave one a try and the chocolate did what it says, it really does melt in the mouth. These chocolates are super light and easy to eat, very easy if I’m honest. The caramel flavour is very rich and sweet and I thoroughly enjoyed them. I have to admit I’d happily buy another bag, caramel works. I guess that is why companies churn it out. It is an easy win. I just think we are at a place where their next product is going to be Aero cubes caramel edition, but what I really want is something different like hot cross bun edition Aero. Come on guys chuck a bit more imagination at the problem.

Aero Combos (Morrisons) By @Cinabar

I found these new Aero Combos in the supermarket, in the chocolate aisle, in amongst the grab bags. I had actually looked at the popcorn section first and then found myself browsing chocolate which is where I found a combo of both. These new Aero Combos contain toffee coated popcorn, Aero Bubbles and malt balls. This sounded perfect for snacking on while catching up on Netflix.

The bag suggests shaking it to even up the mix before pouring them out. I did this and noticed that all popcorn was still on the top, with the odd Aero Bubble visible. I had to dig in the bag to find the malt balls which is not surprising as aren’t they tiny! No wonder they sank through the gaps to the bottom of the bag.

The Aero Bubbles are the milk chocolate version and are lovely as I really like the texture of aerated chocolate. The popcorn were decent sized pieces and and were fluffy yet crunchy, the toffee was just right. The malt balls are the new item and they are just to small, they don’t quite fit in, they are hard to find in the bag and the dark chocolate and tiny bit of malt give a quick flavour burst that quickly disappears, which is such a shame. I like the concept of these Aero Combos but only two out of the three of the items worked. Had the malt balls been the same size they would have delivered more flavour and stayed more equally mixed up in the bag.

Aero Dark & Milk (Tesco) By @cinabar

At some point we have decided we want a new chocolate type on the shelves. I don’t mean the short lived novelty of ‘ruby chocolate’ that was everywhere for a while and then seemed to make its retreat I mean the idea that there is a chocolate half way between milk chocolate and dark chocolate, this Dark & Milk bar is the new bubbly version from Aero.

I took the wrapper off and found quite a dark looking bar, the chocolate looked like it had a high cocoa content, the ingredients revealed it to be 48%. I gave it a taste test and can I just say I do like aerated chocolate, it some how feels firm and yet gives way, I like interesting texture. The flavour of the chocolate was initially quite dark, the cocoa is rich and has a nice flavour. The flavour then mellows a little and has an element of being creamy, not in a milk chocolate way as the cocoa remains strong, but just a little smooth. I liked it a lot and I liked the texture so this bar was a win. I’m honestly not sure if the milk-dark chocolate is a flash in the pan like ruby chocolate seemed to be, so lets enjoy Aero Dark & Milk while it is here.

Aero - Dark Chipotle (Canada via GB Gifts) By @Cinabar

I spent some time browsing import chocolate on the internet and found some strange items that would never get released here in the UK, among them is this Aero Dark Chipotle bar from Canada. I think chilli chocolate flavours were on trend in the UK in about 2008 / 2009 but I haven’t seen much like this for quite a while. I remember Lindt doing ‘hot’ bars mixed with fruit. They are a bit of a novelty but can work well. As a fan of Aero too I couldn’t wait to give this bar a try.

So this Aero Dark Chipotle is a bubbly dark bar with a layer of Chipotle truffle that is a dark red in colour. My bar was broken a little in transit, but I broke a piece off for a closer look at the bubbles. Then I gave it the taste test. The bar is a dark chocolate, and the rich tones of cocoa are the predominant flavour. I braced myself for the chilli and it was very mild. The spicy warmth did grow and even managed a slight heat tingle but it was in no way strong. I prefer this, it managed to add a gentle warmth to the rich cocoa and it gave it a wonderful Mexican feel without it being too spicy to enjoy. I always like the texture of Aero too, with its soft bubbles of chocolate. This was an impressive bar, it wouldn’t be my usual cup of tea but I’m so glad I tried it. It is grown up and different, and a nice change from the 2020 / 2021 trend of chocolate and orange.

Aero Dreamy Snowbubbles (Co-op) By @SpectreUK

These new Aero Dreamy Snowbubbles are described on the packet as; "An aerated vanilla flavour centre with half milk chocolate, half white shell." As you can see from the photograph these spherical Dreamy Snowbubbles are rather smartly half dark and half light in colour. They just needed a dot on each side for the full Yin and Yang. For some reason on pouring them out of the bag for Cinabar to take the photograph they reminded me of the game Othello that I used to play against my sister as a child. As far as I can remember I wasn't half bad at it (pun intended), but she might dispute that.

On taste these Aero Dreamy Snowbubbles melted in my mouth once I'd bitten through the soft outer shell. They taste creamy to the extreme, especially accompanying my White Hot Chocolate drink. There was a creamy flavour from the white chocolate to begin with, a slight interjection from the milk chocolate, and then the full creamy flavour of vanilla filled my tastebuds sumptuously.

These Aero Dreamy Snowbubbles are very flavoursome indeed. They are a proper treat for after lunch or dinner. I'd certainly recommended a hot chocolate accompaniment, and putting your feet up for a while with a good book or movie, and popping one after another of these Aero Dreamy Snowbubbles into your mouth for the full luxurious experience. You deserve it!

Areo Bliss - Peppermint (Tesco) By @Cinabar

I don’t buy a lot of regular chocolate bars, that is mainly because of this blog. I usually look for something new that I haven’t tried before and my hand goes passed my favourites in favour of something different to try. If I was picking favourites though they would be Wispa Gold or Aero Peppermint, so when I saw these Areo Bliss - Peppermint chocolates I bought a box. For myself, I know - but it has been a busy week!

I like aerated chocolate and Aero kind of implies that in the name but these chocolates don’t actually have bubbles. They are smartly wrapped in a gift worthy box, and the chocolate themselves are neat in their green wrappers. I tried one and the peppermint truffle within was soft and had crispies in it but not air. The flavour was very much like the peppermint Aero chocolate, sweet milk chocolate that had plenty of mint and had a lovely flavour. I liked the texture and even the crispsies too but I just think these should be more true to Aero Peppermint and have some bubbles in there somewhere.
