Polly's Satin Pattern Beer (Morrisons) By @SpectreUK

Polly's Satin Pattern Beer

I found myself quite relaxed towards the end of my exercises today, which is unusual. I don't know whether it was lack of sleep or relief that I could finally eat something, but it was a good feeling. To go with my rare relaxed frame of mind, I reckon this 5.5% in volume double dry hopped pale ale may wash down my beef sandwich rather well.

Satin Pattern had Columbus, El Dorado, Mosaic and Simcoe hops added in its production by Polly's Brew Co. So, I am expecting a pale ale bursting with citrus and tropical fruit flavours, and with a little black pepper spice and earthiness from the Columbus hops.

I know I mentioned about the cheeriness of a decent head on a freshly poured beer the other day, but there is a scenario where a beer can be a little too cheery. As an ex-barman I like to think that I can pour a decent pint, even out of a can. With Satin Pattern there was waaaay too much head. After waiting a while, and feeling a little less relaxed, I cleared some froth for a sniff and a sip.

There was a big citrus and tropical fruity aroma from this Satin Pattern DDH Pale Ale, with no small amount of pepperiness and earthiness from the Columbus hops, and with the added sweetness of pale malts. The smell of spiciness cheered my soul and helped me relax again. I adore spicy strong beer. Satin Pattern had a crisp refreshing bite of citrus and tropical hops, with flavours of passionate fruit, a little guava and a touch of mango, followed by Columbus's earthy pepperiness and those luscious soothing sweet pale malts. Gorgeous.
