Kit Kat Fruity Cereal Limited Edition (GB Gifts) By @Cinabar

Kit Kat Fruity Cereal Limited Edition

This Kit Kat Fruity Cereal bar sounds like a fantastically weird Kit Kat creation but it is not from Japan, I found it in the UK via an import shop but it had started life in the USA. The packet is pink and the chocolate really is flavoured with breakfast cereal. I couldn’t wait!

I took the wrapper off and discovered the Kit Kat Fruity Cereal was very pretty, pink but flecked with all sorts of colours. Fruity cereals in the UK don’t seem to have as many food colourings or strong flavours as American versions, and out Kit Kat definitely don’t usually look like this!

I gave the bar a try and was impressed with the flavour. The bar had the usual Kit Kat texture with a chocolate coating and wafers. The impressive part was the flavour, I could pick up on the cereal and there was a nice creaminess to the coating, but there was also the odd part of sharp, overtly sweet bits of fruit flavour mixed in. It was like somebody had sprinkled kids fruity sweets in the coating. It was a much stronger fruit flavour than we would get in cereals over here, but for the Kit Kat it worked well and was fun to eat. This Kit Kat Fruity Cereal bar is one of those bars that made me smile, and it was nice to try. I can’t see such crazy flavours getting released here in the mainstream but I can still hope.

Skinny Crunch - mint & orange (@NLi10)

I was gifted these light snack bars a short while ago, and had rejected them in favour of more fattening things. They did eventually tempt me…

They are essentially rice crispie bars

This is the minty one. Not too much Choc to keep the calories down - but it’s still pretty small for the calories.

Decent amount hiding on the bottom.

And it’s nice, a very light mint and a nice flavoured snack.

The orange one has the usual strong smell, and a lovely orange taste, but is otherwise similar to the mint one. I think this was my favourite of the two.

They aren’t particularly exciting, but a nice light bite for with my afternoon hot drink.

Walkers Fish and Chips Crisps (Tesco) By @SpectreUK

Walkers Fish and Chips Crisps

Walkers have brought out Fish and Chips flavoured crisps as part of their Taste Icons Supporting Local Restaurants series. Whenever we get fish and chips from the local chippy, I always have a mini fish, a battered sausage, and chips. If I can fit it in my tummy during all that, I’ll try to have a pickled egg on the side too!

On opening the bag there was a lovely smell of fish and chips. No really, they do smell like fish and chips. They actually taste like fish and chips too, battered cod and chips to be precise. These Walkers Fish and Chips crisps are really flavoursome, and seriously moreish. I’d recommend Walkers try to produce battered sausage and chips flavoured crisps for us next.

Information on the packet; The 25g bag contains 128 calories, with 7.3g of fat, 0.4g of sugar, and 0.29g of salt. Please see photograph for the ingredients.

Wispa Gold Hazelnut Limited Edition (@CadburyUK) By @Cinabar

Wispa Gold Hazelnut Limited Edition

The Cadbury twitter account said that followers could sign up for a share of gold (not an actual share and not actual gold) and in fact I’ll be honest I wasn’t completely sure what I was signing up for. I thought I would be getting one bar of the new Wispa Gold Hazelnut Limited Edition, what arrived though was so much better, a rather fabulous box with 6 bars and a pin badge arrived. Yay!!!

Wispa Gold Hazelnut Limited Edition

Now I am nuts about hazelnut and chocolate so I couldn’t wait to try out this new bar. Wispa Gold is also probably my favourite regular chocolate bar so yes I’ll admit I was a bit excited. I broke one in half and the golden caramel oozed out, it looked yum!

Wispa Gold Hazelnut Limited Edition

I gave the Wispa Gold Hazelnut Limited Edition bar a try and it was divine. The chocolate was the wonderful bubbly self, but the hazelnut was a good rich flavour, lots of hazelnut and there was still the golden caramel taste too. I loved the mix of textures from the Wispa chocolate and the caramel, and every bite delivered chocolate nutty goodness. Think eating a Wispa full of Nutella, absolutely divine. Please Cadbury can you keep this around, it is too good to be a limited edition. Also we need more flavours, what next, Wispa Mint perhaps? Come on Cadbury, I’d buy a share.

PS I can't see hazelnuts in the ingredients?

Black Forest Gateau Drinking Chocolate (Hotel Chocolat) By @Cinabar

Black Forest Gateau Drinking Chocolate (Hotel Chocolat)

I was lucky enough to get a Hotel Chocolat Velvitiser for my birthday back in January and I have been having regular hot chocolate from it ever since, whatever the weather. Most of the flavours are superb, with the mint and white being strong favourites. I adore the peanut butter too and always have sachets of that variety in the cupboard too.

I went to restock my supplies and spotted a new flavour based on one of my favourite retro cakes, so I bought myself a box of these Hotel Chocolat Black Forest Gateau Drinking Chocolate Sachets. I added a sachet to milk in the Velvitiser and let the machine do its thing. The hot chocolate smelt lovely, sweet and chocolatey.

I poured the drink into a mug and was disappointed I didn’t have whipped cream and cherry sauce for the full at home barista experience. I gave the drink a try and it didn’t disappoint. The flavour was a lovely mix of cherry and chocolate with a creaminess too that I couldn’t quite work out where it had come from. The fruit flavour was balanced well, the cherry taste was a little tart but the sweetness and smoothness of the chocolate married well with it. This was such a soothing drinking and it was like liquidised Black Forest Gateau. So yes Britain is having a mini heat wave but don’t for a minute think that is stopping me drinking a mug of t Black Forest Gateau Drinking Chocolate sachets.
