Trolli Sour Glowworms (Petrol Station) By @SpectreUK

Trolli Sour Glowworms

You never know what you're going to find in a local petrol garage mini supermarket. These Trolli Sour Glowworms were made by a German manufacturer. They were stated as Tutti Frutti flavoured sour jelly worms on the packet, I do usually like sour gummies, so I thought I'd pick up a bag after filling up my car. Lactose and gluten free, these Trolli Sour Glowworms have been a cult gummy sweet since the 1990s with their unique soft texture and fruity flavour. So I'm a little late to the party on these, however, we decided to split the 200g bag whilst watching TV last night. As you can see from the photograph these wiggly sour sugared Glowworms were two tone bright cheerful colours. As you can see from the Glowworm chart photograph they were fairly even in flavour amounts.

Trolli Sour Glowworms

First off we tried the pink and blue coloured Glowworms. I initially thought the combined flavour was cherry and raspberry, but it was actually strawberry and grape. They had a nice squidgy texture, and were not too face twisty, but still had a decent sourness at the end, and were very flavoursome. The red and yellow flavour Glowworms were next for taste testing. Again they tasted pretty fruity, and I thought they were a combination of pineapple and raspberry, but they were actually cherry and lemon. Although I liked them, and more so than the pink and blue Glowworms. They were nice and sour, and in fact they were sour from the start right to the end. So things were picking up. The orange and green colour were next. I found them very citrus in flavour and could pick out the lime and orange flavour easily. These were my favourite and were sour at the beginning of tasting, and then the fruity citrus flavour kicked in. They may not have been as sour as the other two flavours of Glowworms, but were even more tasty and moreish. I reckon I'll have to pick up another bag of these Trolli Sour Glowworms next time I fill up my car.

S’morsels Candy (Petrol Station) By @SpectreUK

S’morsels Candy

Spectre bought this box of S’morsels Candy for me when he went to buy petrol, as he thought they looked different. The petrol station actually has quite an interesting selection of treats and often has imported products I haven’t seen before. These originated in America and looked like they would be a nice treat in the evening after work. The name is a play on Smores, the American idea of melting a marshmallow from a campfire squished between two biscuits. Yum! So this is all of that represented in chocolate.

Inside the S’morsels Candy box are small pieces of chocolate-coated candy, with a firm fondant like feeling. Somehow there is biscuit texture in there too, which is rather clever as I could feel it in every bite but couldn’t see it. I love varied textures, and these are lightly crispy and enjoyable. The flavour is nice too, there is milk chocolate, sweet marshmallow, and a nice hint of biscuit. What a lovely, moreish combination. They are sweet, chocolatey, different, and very easy to eat.

The box of S’morsels Candy didn’t last long. I need to get Spectre to pick up another box when he is next topping up the petrol.

Schweppes Night Light Vibes - Peach Coconut Tiaré Soda (Ocado) By @cinabar

Schweppes Night Light Vibes - Peach Coconut Tiaré Soda

I probably spent more time that I should trying to understand the name of this drink, Schweppes Night Light Vibes - Peach Coconut Tiaré Soda. The Night Light Vibes part sounds more like it is meant for a cosy night in during the dark winter, light some night light candles have a hot chocolate. That can’t be right. This is a summer edition drink, so it must be about night lights in the garden after a barbecue, I don’t know? Clearly I’m missing something but that part probably isn’t important, the key bit is the flavour. So yes here we have the flavour Peach Coconut Tiaré Soda. Tiaré? Well that meant more confusion as I had to google the word Tiaré which turns out to be a white gardenia flower. Is it just me who didn’t know that? So just the words on the bottle weren’t straight forward, perhaps it was time to take a sip.

The Schweppes Night Light Vibes Peach Coconut Tiaré Soda is a very pale cream colour, and had a nice fruity aroma. I gave it a sip and the taste is light and fruity. There is a nice peach flavour that runs through this that is juicy, and the smoothness of the coconut gives it a creamy edge. I can’t really pick up on much floral element, but it must be in the mix. It is a delicate drink, I think if it was used as a mixer it would be a bit lost. On its own it is a refreshing summery drink perfect refreshment on a warm day, whatever the name.

Hitachino Nest Red Rice Beer [@NLi10] & Piccolini Pizza - Iceland

It's a big wrestling weekend in the UK - Money in the Bank was in London! I mean - it wasn't in the big arena, that's to come in Aug. But it was big enough.  It's a busy time of the year for me so I decided to let other people have this one - but it didn't mean I couldn't join in.

I picked up three of my favourite beers - the Hitachino Nest ones - recently, but had two new flavours to try.  The first of which is this red rice beer.  It's fruity, and it's certainly got a strangeness to it - but it's very much in line with the original White one that I usually have.

And to accompany it - a nice spicy pizza from Iceland. Part of the 3 for £10 Italian range I've not really had this before - we tend to go for the meals instead.

And it's certainly lush.  Now they've stopped doing the Lewis Capaldi pizzas this is probably the most deluxe one they have.  All the meats are good, and the variety of cheeses are very Italian and not like a lot of the frozen brands.

Not too filling unlike the Chicago town ones too - this is so much lighter and fluffier.

Perfect for a projector size wrestling show!

Overtone: Vic, I’m Home Beer (The Wee Beer Shop @WeeBeerShop) By @SpectreUK

Overtone: Vic, I’m Home Beer

I asked Cinabar who Vic was when I first saw this can of beer. Vic Secret is an Australian hops tasting of pineapple, passion fruit, and pine. Also known as Tomahawk, Columbus hops were added in the brewing of Vic, I'm Home, for even more citrus, and a little earthiness and peppery flavour.

A whopping 8.5% in volume this DIPA, often known as Imperial India Pale Ale, double-hopped beer is a fairly recent American beer innovation, big on fruity hop flavours and with extra malt for extra flavour. I can't help looking forward to washing my fish and chips down from our local Chippy with this beer.

On opening the can there was initially a spicy almost pepper aroma, mixed with that earthiness and tropical fruits, and then sweet pale malt to finish. On taste this misty light golden DIPA was a lot heavier on the Columbus hops than I thought it would be. Almost overwhelming the fruit flavour, the bitter pepper taste from the Columbus hops really snapped at my tastebuds. Though this was certainly in a good way, as all those spices warmed me up on this rainy English afternoon. There was a mild fruity tropical flavour, mostly underneath all that earthy pepper, almost barely noticeable really. Then some sweetness tried to poke out from the sheer spiciness, in an attempt to smooth out the heavy Columbus flavour of this Vic, I'm Home.

I don't know about Vic, I couldn't really hear him for all the banging on my tastebuds door that Columbus was doing. However I liked this beer. I know I don't sound like I do, but I like a good flavoursome spicy beer. It reminded me of a good red rye beer. I'd certainly recommend Vic, I'm Home in the Autumn and Winter months. It should certainly warm you up a bit.
