They certainly smelt nice, with their very fruity aroma. On taste they have lovely butter pastry, which is a little crunchy to start with, but then it melts in the mouth and is very smooth. Quite boozy on flavour, the brandy is most prominent, then the fruitiness from the mincemeat and a touch of apple, followed by port into the aftertaste. Sweet juicy boozy fruity flavours, these mince pies were fruity rather than punchy in citrus this time. I must say, I'm half the way through my second bottle of spiced rum, so far mince pie season is going very well indeed.
