The spheres are attractively wrapped, and when unwrapped, the chocolate itself has some charming festive moulding. Biting in, I found the chocolate shell was just the right thickness – not too thick or overwhelming. The filling seemed to sit in two dollops on either side of the shell, rather than being completely filled, which I think avoided making them overly rich. As someone with a sweet tooth, I’m sure I could have handled it, but this balance worked nicely.
The flavour is delightful, with a lovely nutty undertone complemented by plenty of sweet, creamy Cadbury milk chocolate. The addition of hazelnut pieces and crispy rice gives the Puds a pleasant texture, making them a bit more interesting to eat.
Considering they’re called “Cadbury Puds” and are inspired by Christmas Pudding, I felt they could have benefited from some raisins or dried fruit to really capture that traditional festive vibe. That said, these were a thoroughly enjoyable treat and a welcome addition to the Christmas snack aisle.
