Yorkshire Tea Victoria Sponge Brew (Ocado) By @cinabar

Yorkshire Tea Victoria Sponge Brew

It has been a little while since we tried a new flavour of tea, so I couldn’t resist picking up this box of Yorkshire Tea Victoria Sponge Brew. We have tried their Jam and Toast variety before, but this sounded perfect for an afternoon cake-inspired cuppa.

While the tea was brewing, it had a lovely sweet aroma which was very appealing. I added some milk and gave it a sip. The flavour was wonderful and soothing, with notes of vanilla, cake and raspberry. It is sweet, but not quite as sweet as the smell suggests.

They tell us in science class that we taste using our tongues, but that a lot of what we experience actually comes from our noses. I’ve never quite been able to reconcile how things can taste and smell different, but here we are! Teas in particular often seem to have a stronger aroma than flavour.

This tea smells wonderfully sweet, but the taste is gentler. It is still really enjoyable though, with plenty of rich tea flavour and a lovely hint of berry goodness too. I would have liked a slice of cake to go with it.
