Pizza Express have a new cook at home range of fresh pastas. There are a few new varieties in the range but I thought the obvious choice to go first with was American Hot Ravioli.
The pasta is fresh and as such cooks in a couple of minutes, so its perfect for a quick dinner. Essentially getting it piping hot in boiling water for a couple of minutes and its good to go.
The pasta pieces are nice big meaty chucks with plenty of filling. The filling is red in colour and you can see it through the pasta. It has a lovely complex taste. There are plenty of spices and flavours, with paprika and pork shining through, but the most noticeable taste is the chilli. It does what it says on the tin, it is hot! Not painfully so, but you can't argue with the kick of spice that makes your nose run and creates a heated tingle on the palette. I was pleased that it had some proper heat to this, but that the base flavours stood out. The pasta itself was soft and and tasty, and nicely thick.
The American Hot Pizza Express ravioli was very convenient and easy to prepare, and full of fresh spicy flavours.
I'm very much looking forward to trying out the other varieties and enjoying Pizza Express pasta at home.
