Foodies New Burst 12/2/14

If you are looking to try something a bit different Sainsburys have started selling do it yourself Sushi Kits! All you have to add are a few fresh ingredients like smoked salmon and avocado and away you go! I’m going to be blogging about the kit very soon, but thought I’d start with a heads up incase you were thinking of a Valentines meal in.

Durian fruit has become available in the UK. I’m not sure why there is a fascination with a fruit that smells rotten when its fresh, but maybe I’m just missing out. Camel milk coffee is now being served in the UK too. I know it sounds odd, but apparently it is lower in fat and full of vitamins. This is one product where I would give it a go, so I hope it makes it to a shop near me, but at the minute it is just being stocked in a couple of London shops. If you like Wispa hot chocolate you’ll be very pleased to hear that Wisp Gold hot chocolate is on its way. I like flavoured hot chocolates, so the added caramel taste with the bubbly chocolate should get my vote! Source: http://www.sweetsandsnackseurope.com/product-focus/hot-chocolate-range-expands/

The ridges in McCoys crisps are getting deeper as part of their new Ultimate range, and as for the new variety of Chargrilled Steak and Peri Peri, all I can say is bring it on! Source: http://www.intersnack.co.uk/latest-news/36/

It is one year since the first branch of Starbucks opened in Mumbai, and they are celebrating by launching their own unique blend. Its hard to imagine a city without Starbucks, so I’m glad it is a successful venture for them. :-) http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/companies/tata-starbucks-launches-exclusive-indian-blend/article5257393.ece

Finally if you are a certain age, then you may well have a soft spot for Hooch in your heart, one of the first of the fruity alcopops that were popular in the nineties. They are having a re-launch and have a marketing campaign faced by Keith Lemon, which seems weirdly perfect for it! http://www.retailtimes.co.uk/global-brands-signs-keith-lemon-new-face-hooch-plans-tv-comeback/
