On a day that was probably more muggy than hot I was still in search of refreshment and reprieve from the warmth. We settled into our local Costa, and I spotted on the menu the ‘New’ labels, one of which was right next to this Green Tea, Lime and Mint Fruit Cooler. This sounded like quite an interesting combination given that most of these drinks contain the usual berry or coffee combinations. It also sounded like it would tick the box for refreshment.
The drink is ice blended, which to be honest isn’t something I normally go for. I find they have a tendency to trigger ice cream headaches, and make me cough slightly, but perhaps I’m not just cut out for things too cold.
I’d committed to my choice and ordered the drink. I had a medium sized drink and it was a slight green colour when it arrived. I took my first sip and the only word I could think of was ‘wow’. I really hadn’t prepared myself for the full on flavour content. It is strong and sharp, and takes zingy to a whole new level. The lime comes first and it tastes very fresh and acidic, this is then followed by a heavy hit of mint which is cooling and certainly works well on a summers day. To be honest with those two flavours taking over my tastebuds I couldn’t pick up on much green tea, but there was a leafy flavour with the mint which could have come from either of the plant extracts included.
I drank as much as I could of the drink, (which was more than three quarters) but wish I’d ordered the small. I had three mini ice cream headaches during the process and one slight coughing moment before I was well refuelled enough to give up. If you can order a large ice cooler and finish it I am in deed in awe of you!
It is strong and citrus sour, but if you want something that tastes refreshing and to cool you down I don’t think you can beat this drink!

Hi, I love your review. I am a massive fan of costa, mint and lime, so when I saw this drink I got SO excited. I did enjoy it, but I completely agree, it is very strong. You couldn't really taste the tea. I would have liked for it to be lighter, like their strawberry lemonade. If you haven't had it you must try it! it's amazing.

I have been back and I tried their new ginger beer too. Now I accept I'm not much of a ginger beer drinker, but oh my that was strong too! Mouth on fire! :-D
I'll go for the strawberry lemonade next, that sounds like it will be more up my street. ;-)
I love the sound of this! I meant to try it last time I was at Costa but plumped for the raspberry white chocolate cooler instead.
If you're a fan of green tea drinks I'd highly recommend bubble tea! The green tea ones are very refreshing.
