Fox’s Chocolatey Lemon Mousse Biscuit Bars (Sainsburys) [By @Cinabar]

These bars seem to have launched without so much as a new label on the packet. They are new though, my continued scanning of the biscuit and confectionary shelves means I would have spotted these if they had appeared before.
The idea of combining lemon and chocolate is a bit different too, and I was quite looking forward to trying the combination out. There are five individually wrapped biscuit bars in the pack, which is always good to keep them fresh or to have them as a lunch box treat.

I unwrapped my biscuit and broke it in half. There was no healthy biscuit snap, just firm a milk chocolate base. Weird. I bit in and there was no biscuit in the whole bar. I have had the occasional Kit Kat which has been solid chocolate and can only assume that this is like that, mis-made.

For the sake of research I forced myself to try another bar. I broke this one, and it had a small amount of biscuit, not a full biscuit base. Oh well, I think this one was incorrectly manufactured too, but it was certainly closer to the intended product than the first.
The crunch was light, but it still had enough presence to feel biscuit like. It was thicker than the photograph too at the extremes of the bar. The combination of fluffy soft slightly tangy lemon mousse and sweet chocolate was a winner. I loved the combination of flavours and textures, it was playful and fresh. We all think of chocolate orange as a good combination but it turns out lemon works rather well too. Each biscuit stick is quite satisfying and only 133 calories so not too bad.
I think I am going to have to buy another pack of these, just to check the consistency of the biscuit stick in other packs….
