Corvedale Brewery Oatmeal Stout (Cosford @CorvedaleBrewer) [By @SpectreUK]

You may recall that I was dragged to Food Show at Cosford Air Museum the other day on the promise of spending time in the museum and having some free booze. Corvedale Brewery Oatmeal Stout was one of the bottles I picked up whilst I was there. The brewery is set in the Sun Inn near the Craven Arms, not far away from Ludlow. Sounds like a good place for a pub lunch after visiting the castle. Cheerfully presented in a 500ml bottle and at 4.5% volume, this Shropshire stout was brewed with Maris Otter Malt, Wheat Malt, rolled oats and Fuggles Hops.
They say stout can be akin to a good meal and this stout does not disappoint. Dark brown almost black in colour the thick oaty flavour mixed well with the initial malt taste, the bitterness from the hops comes later tantalising the tastebuds as you reach for the aftertaste. Perfect for a big steak and chips, Sunday roast beef or a hearty beef stew. If in doubt just enjoy it on its own like I did.
