Lemon and Blackcurrant Slice - Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery(by @NLi10)

While beginning the Christmas Shopping this week (afterall - it IS November...) we fancied a break and popped in to the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (BMAG) in town to sample the lovely Edwardian Tea Room.

I decided to have a Lipton Lemon Tea and in keeping with the theme I decided to try the Lemon and Blackcurrant slice.

This is a change from my usual (the carrot cake) but one that I may repeat as it was pretty good. It was a lot moister that I expected and had decent sized chunks of fruit and a very zingy flavour. As with most of the cakes here it has an almost home-made feel, but with the amount they must get through on a busy day it surely can't be! The portion was generous, and still left me with more than enough change to be tempted on the wander back through the gift shop.

As the Birmingham Christmas Market appears in a couple of weeks it's nice to know that a safe-haven from all the shops and crowds exists to escape too. And they do a mean hot-chocolate too!
