Marmite Crisps [Unilever] (Waitrose)

These are by special request from ‘Jim's Chocolate Mission’, who asked me to keep an eye for this new product. Walkers already make Marmite flavour crisps, so these do seem an odd addition to our shelves. Still, what follows is a write up of Unilever’s version of Marmite crisps. Unilever’s are sold in black packaging, where as Walkers bags are yellow.
In flavour, well what can I say; they have a strong dose of Marmite goodness. There just is no mistaking the fantastic taste; the crisps are even speckled with tiny brown dots of Marmite. Marmite is perfect for crisps with its meaty (although vegetarian) strong salty taste. The Walkers variety always seemed a little toned down for me, and I know non Marmite fans who would still indulge in the Walkers crisps. I wouldn’t advise it on these ones, as these have a more authentic stronger flavour. I think they are heaven and give them the thumbs up!

Hello

A very good friend of mine told me about this latest Marmite product after I was bemoaning the fact that Walkers Marmite Crisps were gone from the shelves at my local grocers. I am now sitting with fingers crossed that the new Marmite Crisps will reach my local supplier soon!

I'm a self confessed Marmite addict

Katie - YUM :-)

Jim's Chocolate Mission - Couldn't resist searching these out after you mentioned them!

Löst Jimmy - You won't be disappointed when you do find these crisps, they are gorgeous!

Everyone (lol) - I have also purchased Marmite Rice Cakes, will let you all know how I get on with those! Review to follow!

Walkers have stopped making Marmite crisps - claiming lack of demand : http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=31386409

I bought some today only to find they have garlic powder in them. Why do they think that's necessary? I can't stand garlic so I have wasted my money, can't even get the Walkers ones anymore.

I have to say I didn't notice the garlic in the ingredients... sorry you didn't get on with them.

Looks like the old variety aren't available anymore either (thanks for the link Tim).

I am a great fan of Marmite but these crisps just taste of Garlic and Onion...two flavours which I hate...I am very dissapointed in them, I've wasted my money on a six pack and they are in the bin!

Chez - sorry to hear you didn't get on with them... I really liked them, but I also love garlic and onion flavours.

Horrible! Bring back the Walkers ones please!

You'd have to be a bit daft to dislike garlic and onion.

I love marmite and i used to love the walkers version of the crisps, but the new version is awful, doens tatse like walkers version or even marmite. so i dont buy them anymore.
pity as it was my favorite crisp flavour.

I realise they changed a bit, but I thought the new Marmite crisps were still good.

Still Walkers are bringing out a bunch of new flavours for the world cup, so hopefully you find something you like in the new range.
