It was a bit of a surprise when Cinabar presented me with a couple of packets of Cadbury's White Giant Buttons and a large white chocolate bar also made by Cadbury. Asides some lucky white chocolate eggs, there hasn't been any white chocolate made by Cadbury in this country for quite some time. Cadbury's Dream white chocolate bar was discontinued here a few years back, although it is still produced for Australia and New Zealand. I have to admit that I didn't try a Dream bar when they were available here, so now I have a chance to try Cadbury's white chocolate today.
White chocolate is one of my favourite, if not my favourite, type of chocolate. For me it's difficult to put anything above Cadbury's Milk Chocolate. Other milk chocolates by other brands rarely make the grade in my opinion. I do eat other chocolate bars by other brands quite regularly for snacks, but Cadbury's Milk Chocolate has always been a treat. So I have high hopes for these Cadbury's White Giant Buttons.
On opening the packet I first thought that these Cadbury's White Giant Buttons didn't smell as creamy as other brands of white chocolate that I have eaten in the past. On initial taste these white chocolate buttons weren't as creamy as I was hoping, and then after a couple of chews the creaminess of the white chocolate almost exploded in my mouth. To start with the flavour easily matched the other brands' creaminess and then surpassed most, if not all of them. I'd definitely buy these Cadbury's White Giant Buttons again, and hopefully regularly.
I did notice that there wasn't a reseal sticker on the outside of the packet. Although I have worked out a lot this morning, so downing the packet in one go for the calories, as well as their creamy glorious taste, wasn't going to be a chore. It does seem a shame if they're just exclusive to Asda as if you can't make it to one of their stores, or get an online order for a delivery, then they should be available everywhere!
Information on the packet;
The 110g packet has just over four portions (if you're not greedy like me) at 25g, which has 134 calories, with 7.3g of fat, 16g of sugar, and 0.10g of salt. The ingredients included; sugar, cocoa butter, skimmed milk powder, whey powder (from milk), milk fat, emulsifier (soya lecithins), flavouring.
